Mighty effort to get this close !
I did not think we would be even close to contention in this one. To get this close and not get it is disappointing. But nevertheless great effort and great character building for a lot of the future players.
Eventually you can only do so much when you have 1.5 ball user in the middle. Class is needed to win it.

I probably shouldn't say it but winning tonight may have brought major embarrassment next week if we indeed hit a wall then.

Freo only won one quarter.....we just didn't do enough with our earlier scoreboard dominance. Three posters and some poor set shots but hey, that's the way it goes.
Absolutely spot on with everything, stevo!!

I thought the umpiring was ok but those 2 poor decisons in the 3rd quarter were howlers. Serong incorrect disposal and even worse Papley's legs getting taken were big errors. In the end experience cost us. We got flogged out of the centre which was another big factor in our loss.

We played well for 3/4 and missed a few gettable shots which would have put more pressure on Freo. In the end, their talent overcame our great effort and we just have to accept that they were too good in the last quarter. Sure, we’re disappointed but the pressure we applied eventually left us spent and our lesser lights could not keep it up..

We did better than I originally expected at the start of the season to have come this far annd let’s not forget we finished second top. Now let’s hope we can re-integrate our 5 missing lads.

Yes, Papley was great early, but looked hobbled after that, and we really needed him to fire. Generally though, he's been excellent in the latter part of the season.

Devastated that the most unlikeliest of dreams is now over after leading for most part of the game. Agree with sentiments that we may've fallen well short again next week and saved us from deepening our GF losing scars.

Incredible we made it this far, which Longmuir acknowledged.

Hope Rampe plays on next year to reach his 300th and chance to go out with a premiership medal. Cox in his presser just now wouldn't be drawn into Rampe's future.

Whilst we may reflect what might have been if the Pullman Hotel incident hadn't occured, i truly believe it has galvanised the team to a level which we can look forward to. I'm not convinced if we had made GF with our best 23, that the past scars would have not caught up with us again. At least now, the team has more belief.

I was there, I think our inexperience showed in the last quarter. Some of our younger players made some iffy decisions leading to turnovers, but they will learn from it. I agree that had we won we probably would have had a bad loss next week. It is truly a miracle that we got close. I mean Come ON, a preliminary final, lost by 14 points, after all the club has been through? That's incredible. From where I was, Grundy looked injured before the game, he was swaying at times, and Papley was obviously not 100 percent. With those two underdone, well a Grand final could have been embarrassing. As for Freo, well, I wouldn't be too confident about next week. They were outplayed for three quarters by a team of youngsters and veterans held together with string. Could be a really bad loss for them next week if they don't improve ,

Fully agree, KSAS! The response of the WHOLE club has been magnificent and, yes, what happened has galvanised everyone, not just the players.

And let's not forget that before all the drama, we had had a wonderful season, finishing second on the ladder and beating teams we love to beat!

                      GO THE MIGHTY BLOODS!!

We were in this game until the last 30 seconds. Extraordinary performance by a very inexperienced team. Yes, disappointing to lose a game they really deserved to win, but agree we’d have been in strife next week. Papley was hobbled after that slide in taking his legs out. As well we had 5 guys out there that didn’t have 50 games between them. A mighty effort to get this far and a resurgence of Bloods footy.

so proud to be a swans 70 yr supporter and member for most of that time. Not so of the umps seems to me that besides the paps (missed slide byy opponent) there were othe missed tackles like 36 taking our player so hard over the boundary it definetly looked a free ansd there we a few others also missed. tackles by us were not paid. whilct they were for freo. GO BL dsont want Hawks or Freo to win.
