what I meant was if you stripped the forward line like we have stripped our backline fans would be up in arms............No Curnow, No Papley, No McDonald, No Lloyd for 2027 would create a meltdown
It appears I’m on my own island re concern about losing 4 defenders
Rampe
Blakey
Cunningham
Mills for most of 2027 if not all
does everyone feel comfortable with our ressies and or Melican / Hambling to get us through to the GF?
most importantly be a defensive back 7 rotation that can dominate the top teams ?
who are your replacements that will ensure our back 7 rotation are as strong as when we had these 4 starting in our side ?
for me I just can’t imagine that is possible yet here we are heading into 2027 with arguably the weakest backline in the top4 teams - that’s a tough finals series if we make it while in a window
I am certainly concerned yes, I was sure we'd go for a defender in the trade period but there really wasn't anyone worth pursuing, according to the club anyway.
Hopefully some of the young guys can step up.

Mate, the players you mentioned all played well, irrespective of the position they were designated- they played their role. Good players can play almost anywhere and play for the team, not for themselves. Luke Parker is the perfect example. I’m sorry he’s gone- there when needed, gave his all and hardly injured. Should have kept him!!

The main point i was making is that we generally dont miss players when they leave, regardless of who they are.
Could always argue they should or shouldn't have stayed, I just dont think we will miss some in defence as much as some posters think.
My opinion is the biggest issue with our defence is not playing enough tall defenders. I believe that was partly because we played Rampe and/or Blakey tall.
The Prelim for me was the perfect example, Hamling and Melican aren't stars but they allow others to play differently
