Read on the BF Swans board that Dean Terlich is training with us and hence would be under consideration for a rookie list spot.

[Robbo]

What position does he play?

I follow the WAFL quite closely, here are some of the guys we should look at for the rookie draft:

Callum Wilson (South Fremantle): He's a key backman who can go forward. He was injured quite a bit as a junior, and if it wasn't for this he probably would of been drafted already. Played regular league footy in 2007 and was very impressive.

Luke Miles (Swan Districts): Will almost certainly be taken. He was the quickest over 20 metres out of every potential draftee that was screened in 2007. He's a key backman who is absolutely lightning across the ground. His disposal is dodgy, though. Not many forwards will run away from him.

Michael Griffiths (East Fremantle): He's a giant ruckman who was originally from Victoria. At 206cm, he tore it up in the WAFL in 2007. He drifts forward quite a lot and can take a strong mark. Very agile for his size and is strong enough to play AFL footy straight away.

Luke Tedesco (West Perth): He's a mid sized flanker who is very strongly built already. Has great poise, doesn't panic in tight situations and his disposal is very good. Lacks pace but makes up for it with hardness. He's in the mould of Paul Bevan, minus the clumsiness.

Trevor Oliver (East Perth): Represented the Northern Territory in the State 18s this year. He's a half back flanker who likes to run and carry out of defence. Fits our game plan perfectly. He was one of East Perth's vital cogs in the backline in 07. For an 18 year old, he was very impressive in his first year of league footy - Was BOG on debut.

I would be happy if we took one of these blokes, but heaps of clubs will be looking at them.

We've re-drafted Matt O'Dwyer with our first pick. Murphy and Orreal have already been secured with our next 2 picks. Our remaining three picks are NSW selections.

I thought we were able to call past rookie's "sydney selections" seeing as they have lived in Sydney for the past year. I know we did that for McGlone (among others).

Wow, would any club in history have gone into a draft and taken only 2 new/unknown selection players in the entire full and rookie drafts combined?

Next 2 selections
Matt Beckmans from the Murray Bushrangers, who played a few times as a top up player and who impressed me.
Aaron Bruce from Eastlake - he'll fit right in in Canberra!

Looks like the local paper had the scoop:

Last selection likely to be Terlich then.

Terlich it is. He is originally from Osborne, where Schneider came from but also played at the Bushrangers.

Aaron Bruce 188cm. Defender.
Dean Terlich 186cm. Utility.

Beckmans - 188cm 80kg Murray Bushrangers

[Robbo]

So we went with more midfield/utility types?

[ugg]

Murphy & Orreal are the KPPs.
Bruce played CHB for the Rams, but isn't particularly tall.

[Robbo]

I agree with the re-drafting of O'Dwyer because he's quick, but it sounds like we've drafted two more Luke Brennan's.

[i'm-uninformed2]

Beckmans was highly impressive in the reserves games he played - ran hard, plenty of pace, a strong body and good skills.

A darkhorse

To some people here that doesn't seem to be much of a problem.

[Jeffers1984]

Rowe was robbed. Definitely deserved another shot. Disappointed.
