It's probably just as well - Nick probably hasn't had time to learn the words to the reserves club song.

Yep - good point. Our backman have spent most seasons just getting cold! (I remember doing that as a full back for a season).Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I remember our fullback once admitting to me during a rather dominant season that he would at times stand there cheering for the other team in his mind so that the ball might come down his end.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

13 listed players on the field at any one time. 18 listed players in the squad of 24 (bench has been extended). So if you do the maths, that means 5 top-ups on the field and 1 on the bench.
Also, the top-ups are now sourced from the Canberra clubs when the game is in Canberra and Sydney clubs when the game is in Sydney.
Rest of the squad will play with Tuggeranong, although this didn't happen this week due to our injury list.
The official website has a report up, although you have to wonder if the reporter was at the game because there's nothing of value in the write-up

"Davis kicked four goals, but it was not enough to lift his side."
Lazy bastard costing them the game! He should have lifted the side. That's what he's paid to do!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The ressies lost??
That's the first time in how many years? Two? Three?
Goodness.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

As Liz forsaw (here or elsewhere?) nobody should have been surprised by this. Missing from last years team - Bird, Barlow, Jack, Moore, Laidlaw, Grundy/Vogels, Thornton, Rowe, Shaw and Phillips. Basically the only regulars from last year were Brabazon, Smith, Faulks, White and O'Dwyer. Mathews would have provided guidance but he is no game breaker in any comp and Davis would have stayed on the forward line. Probably missed a few blokes but any player turnover like that will always have a big effect. So we had that crew plus a gang of rookies still learning the Swans style.
The reason we dominated the comp was because with the lack of promotion and player movement plus minimal injuries over the 05 - 07 period. Now the ressies are back to where they were in 03 and 04.
They will get better as the kids gain in experience and players come back from injury. But with the expected glut of senior retirements that must occur over the next couple of years there will be more turnover of the ressies personnel. I can't see a return to the total domination we got so used to for quite some time.Pay peanuts get monkeysComment
