So we're saying that this is chalk and cheese, right?

Hall was/is never a great on-field leader. He can be a great player with inspiring deeds and copping heaps of @@@@. He is also prone to flapping his arms around like a complete selfish goose and thouhtless aggression. He intimidates the players kicking to him. It will be great to have him back as part of the team. I also hope that he stops 'writing' his lam arse column excusing himself week after week.

I have been away for 3 weeks and haven't got involved in the RWO debate on his case, but he proved to me once and for all time that he has no leadership skills. He might be a tough hard footballer but has a vacuum up top when it comes to any cognative brain function.

My first reaction to the incident was: "how much has this bloke let down the team and it's supporters".

It was purely and simply a dog act and showed what a selfish individual he is.

Here we are playing bloody darn good footy and this prat lets fly and potentially turns all that on its head. He apologised to Staker but I haven't heard him apologise to his team mates or supporters. Correct me if I have missed something while I was away.

Don't spend all your money before you retire Barry because no one will be running after you to give you a job.

The positive to all this is we have 10 weeks to see if the forward structure of the future can be moulded without the Einstein of the team.
Good to have you back Uncle. Also good to see that amazingly you're talking more crap now, than you were before you left

    No he shouldn't

You have no idea of his leadership skills unless you know him, or have an insiders point og view into the club and the leadership he provides for the rest of the players.
I'd suggest that he wasn't given that position without possessing leadership skills.
Goodes still isn't in that group, so it certainly is not based on form. It is based on one's ability to lead.
And that doesn't just go away after a hit.
It was a mistake, he still has leadership skills (as defined by the clkub whoi placed him in that position) and he should remain in a position of leadership.

Mine was "how long will he be gone?"
He didn't let me down at all.

Yes, he did it on purpose.... *sarcasm mode off*
Which of his team mates told you that he hadn't apologised to them?

That is the silliest comment yet.
His purse for his first boxing match after footy just doubled (at least)
Then there's all the other media and sports related opportunities.
*sarcasm mode on* Dermie certainly flopped big time since leaving footy *sarcasm mode off*

    Rhetoric

constructive criticism in not the same as being punished by your peers.

And that is NOT why they are the leadership group.

Was that an on field or off field indiscretion? Because, as has been pointed out, there is a difference.

Imagine if in your workplace your bosses asked the employees to find an adequate punishment for a workmate (and friend) who was caught sleeping on the job.

    I'd be saying "you're the @@@@ing boss - that's YOUR job.
I certainly wouldn't want to be chastising an equal, as the long term embarrassment etc would be detrimental to the relationship.

I'd really love to hear the Swans come out and say ...

"As a group we stick by one another, on the field, off the field, and when one of us makes mistakes.
Barry Hall made a mistake - he was punished by the correct method, and we now offer our support to Barry and our opinions of him being a decent person have not been changed by this one incident.
We look forward to his speedy return to the team"
The leadership group has every right to punish him.

I certainly hope that none of your mates hang you out to dry when you have done something stupid. Hall didnt murder anyone, the "what if's" have clouded the argument -and the "what if's" didnt happen and Staker will be on the field this weekend.
makes the entire saga a farce.
    Could not agree more Wardy.

The Swans have an established player-driven code of ethics and standards that may sound rather cold & clandistyne, but the proof is in the pudding. It obviously works, as the moral around the country appears to be generally pretty sound & the player come across as extremely motivated and full of energy at the moment.

There is no better leveller than being told you have lost your mates, especially in this country. I have no problem with the players coming out & saying this, even if it does come across as rather cold & unsupportive. The facts are as Craig Bolton stated; the platyers will either have to change their roles and/or have to have to play that much harder to compensate for Barry's loss (even if he generally gets towelled up by Scarlet). This loss was unnecessary & I can understand players being fed up with all the unnecessary publicity all this hoohah has brought onto them as a team & the Swans as a club.

At least we don't have a culture like the Eagles where people mucking up are allowed to get away with things & appear to have never had to be pulled into line when they have done so.

You people can choose the club culture you like. I'm happy with ours, thank you very much.
