Reserves v Belconnen

I hope young Ned succeeds, would be poetic justice. Some may remember Greg Brentnall, fullback for Canturbury RL team in the 80's. About thirty years ago, he was the subject of a tug of war between South Melbourne and Canterbury. He went to Canterbury because his Wagga mates the brothers Steve and Ned's dad Chris Mortimer were already there. Fate can work in mysterious ways!Pay peanuts get monkeysComment

Maybe we should assign one of our scouts to tracking down the offspring of 80s League greats. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

I'm looking forward to this one nearly as much as I am the seniors game. Belconnen are the best performed team in the league this year but I don't think the Swans have lost in Sydney yet this season and I reckon they'll pull this one off. Injecting a player with the class of Veszpremi, now with a couple of games under his belt since his last injury, can make all the difference. I'd love to see him and Davis operating together in the forward line. That's worth salivating over.
Was it Belconnen that the reserves played in that rip-roaring game at Telstra earlier this year, the warm-up to the Wet Toast game?Comment

Yep, best reserves game in 20 years. Came from behind with Davis and Laidlaw combining for some great goals in the last quarter to lift them over the line.
The Belconnen guys ripped in as usual, pushing to the very edge as far as niggle and muscle go, but it's been successful for them in the past and it makes for a great game.
And as Missy said, a not so small group of young fellas sat in the Swans members area and gave it to any Swan who got within earshot, particularly Davis.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Agree. Best reserves game i have ever witnessed. Swans came back from the dead and sealed a great win with Nicky D doing a Wayne Harmes knocking the ball to his left while diving before the ball went over the line to Terlich i think it was for the sealer.Yep, best reserves game in 20 years. He's special.
Just a problem with his groins at the minute, probably OP, which appears to have prevented him getting a solid fitness base as he runs out of puff pretty quick. That said, when he is on the field he goes at 100mph all the time and his skills seem great. Tough as well.
Liz, I meant to say when you were speculating on his injuries in the Tuggeranong game in Canberra. We watched the final quarter of that game from just beside the interchange bench as the girls wanted to get some pics as they came on and off. Vespa iced his groin on both sides when he came off with about 15 to go. Had ice packs and wrapped them in big strips of plastic. No problems with thighs or anything, no doubt just get the ice on his problem area once his day is finished.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Is he a midfielder or defender or both?http://dailyadvertiser.yourguide.com...er/803052.aspx
Ned Mortimer gets a call up. Yet another rugby league offspring.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Obviously depends if he has a photo attached
Usually the top ups don't play in the midfield as we tend to go with our listed midfielders for obvious reasons, so the top-ups sort of fill the holes. He probably plays midfield for Collingullie-Ashmont-Kapooka.
Of course, he could be another Bevo and play midfield, defender, small forward, quarterback, runn...................

I read somewhere that the reserves haven't lost in Sydney for 3 years. Belconnen have that record in their sights.Comment
