One - Hawthorn this year. And even then it's arguable that he didn't as we had our chances after that.

Was he a liability in the EF against North last year? Or when he was our best player against the 'Dogs in the losing SF?

Sure, get into him for being an idiot but don't ignore the good things he has done.

But some of the anti-Kirk, anti-Roos, "Hall is hard done by" hysteria in this thread has spiralled to ridiculous proportions.

Let's look at what he has done wrong this year....
1) 3 x 50 mt penalty...The first was for argueing with the umpire, (shouted that he was held...didn't even swear, quickest most over zealous 50 I've seen this year, others argued with umps no problem....The second Roughead ran into him....the third was understandable frustration. Yes it was at a crucial stage of the match, but hardly an out of control wild offence.
2) A silly little jab in retaliation to an elbow, both players laughed together about it after the game.
IMO it is Roos's comments which are ridiculously out of proportion. Publicly questioning his motivation etc...completely unnecessary.

I wouldn't want to play in a sporting team where the worst opponent you have is your self-righteous Captain when you put a foot out of line.

Football wise the club may be worse off, but in terms of team morale, the team would be much better placed.

Can't believe the love for Hall in this poll. He's a liabilility and has been for the last 2 and a half seasons.

He did alot of good for the club and will always be remembered holding the cup up (although should have been kirky!) but it is well and truly time to go

I'd rather lose a game with 22 player having a go and pulling in the same direction, than lose it because our marquee forward is a headcase when he's on the field.

If we don't have a functional forward line then so be it, although I don't follow the doomsayers who believe we are gone without him.

And poor old Nick Davis, I'd love to know how his exploits were viewed by the leadership group relative to Barry's indiscretions

Talking about self-righteous, what exactly of what Kirk said do you have a problem with? What do you actually know about team morale and the actions different people at the club have on it?

Kirk was fulfilling the AFL-imposed obligations to make coaching/playing staff available to the media. He was responding to questions from the media about Hall. He didn't make any derogative comments about Hall the person. Quite the opposite. He just said he doesn't trust Hall not to thump someone else in the future. Are you confident Hall won't thump anyone again?

I love Hall the footballer. I hope he stays, including into 2010, though I am not confident he won't do anything this stupid again. But he hasn't put one foot out of line. He has done it several times in the last season and a half. And don't forget that he himself uses the media to tell us all about how he has reformed, and doesn't want to be remembered for the stupid stuff. (And in a personal, presumably commercial arrangement, not as part of role as a Swans player.)

Yep right. A convicted criminal who bashed an opponent breaking his jaw behind the play is a rated the best player of the 20th Century, a Hall of Famer and allowed to peddle his trade in the sport, a "recovering" drug addict is playing on and its a competition of divers (Lloyd), nigglers (just about every opponent of Hall's who have been sent out by mug coaches such as Malthouse and Clarkson to deliberately incite Hall into a misdeamenor) and cheap shot merchants (Mooney). Hall is neither a diver, niggler, cheap shot merchant, inciter of violence nor a convicted criminal but is apparently not allowed to continue his profession despite already being punished by the disciplinary body of the code. The calls for him to be rubbed out of the sport come not from battered or aggreived opponents but from within his own club. Does this not seem bizarrely unfair? And if the game is supposedly against on field violence why is it still regarded as acceptable for clubs to deliberately employ tactics to incite and provoke an opponent to violence? Fair play?

I'm starting to think that at the end of the year with MOL gone , Leo gone, then if they shaft Hall how cashed up they will be? - thing is, what star player would want to come to Sydney where there is a chance if you put a foot out of line, you get hung for it publicly by the coach and the hippy captain?

Agree - and really there are 20 other players in this team lets not forget - its not just the Hall & Kirk show.

So Baz stay - keep your nose clean and prove to everyone that you can do it - because many of us believe you can.

Of course he should stay. He's the only player we've got with fangs, for all his misgivings, we look pretty weak in the forward line without him. No team ever won a flag playing nice gentlemanly football, less stupidity would be good...but I'd have him in the side, rather than leave him out, any day.
