Leaving Crouch and Ablett out = throwing young players to the wolves...I don't think so.
What I am advocating is leaving a couple of aging ordinary players out, whos' future with the Swans is questionable at best, and instead getting gametime into some young players who will hopefully be part of the Swans future...players like Vespa and Thornton. Both would of been as, or more, effective today.

MOD had a rocket of a game last week, so good on him. Ves needs more time for his anaerobic capacity to develop. He also tends to try too hard to make his mark - exciting but taking after Leo !!! He will settle.

I know who's injured, and I know who have been getting games. I see little point in playing the likes of Ablett and Crouch week in week out, we all know what they bring to the table. Roos said this himself. He also expressed the need to get senior matches into the young guys to speed up their developement. So it doesn't make a lot of sense to continue to play Ablett and Crouch even though their form has been patchy at best. There are plenty of other experienced hard bodies in the team. IMO it would of been more benificial to of given the experience/gametime to a young guy. The more games players like MOD and Braba and Thornton and Vespa get allows Roos and co to make a far more informed evalluation of them when deciding who to cull at the end of the season.

Of those that are not injured or returning from injury, they have given game time to White, Barlow, Bird, Hannaberry, Thornton, Smith, Jack, Vespa and to a lesser extent Brabazon all in the last 8 weeks.

All this while at least maintaining a core group to keep some sort of consistent team form.

If they drop off Bird and maybe one of Ablett or Crouch for Vespa and MOD/Thornton then the match committee can maintain that they have kept to their word in playing what youngsters we have available at present. There is no need to play all the youngesters at once, especially if some are only getting a game for development.

Facts are, if Schmidt, Laidlaw, Merideth, DOK, Johnston, Currie and Murphy were all injury free then you could reasonably epext these guys to be getting some game time as well but they are not.

Perhaps he's a deadset certainty to play next season, so they want to test other blokes like MOD, Ablett, Crouch and see if they are worth keeping on the list.

Go MOD! Definitely deserves his call up. He has been in very very good form for the ressies.

Will add some speed to the team and i'm hoping his kicking holds up.

Good to see MOD get a chance. I don't know if his skills will cut it, but I hoe his debut is successful. Dissapointed that Veszpa doesn't get a go, but maybe he needs another week in the ressies.

First game this year but not his debut - played a couple last year.

I think MOD soundly deserves his spot this week after a very good last month or so in the reserves, and a super game last week. Vez played a very different role last weekend and it probably makes sense for him to have another go, rather than to switch back to the Siberia of the forward pocket in the senior team.
