Now for an optimists's spin on how we are travelling.
First up we gave a stellar display by trouncing the Aints. We didn't progress in the NAB Cup past the very narrow loss to a hot Essendon. A few weeks ago we got over the GCS in the last minutes of a game which was clearly a run to get rid of a few cobwebs. Then the world turned on us when we could only get over the newbies by 69 points. Some of the comments by the very knowledgeable Melbourne media/press included; flat, ordinary display, rusty, unimpressive, should have won by more than 100 points etc etc. To me the coaches didn't look too concerned by the performance.
At the same time Carlton was copping a pizzling for not having won a preseason game. They haven't been too bad in 2 solid games. All their preseason games were designed to get them primed for round 1. The Tiges were tipped to beat them because of their good preseason form.
Could it be that as we were playing GWS that the game was used to get rid of some rough edges. I seem to remember Goodes strolling around looking not too concerned and spent little or no time on the ball, Bolton took time to get into his stride as did McGlynn, Hanners was only there to get game time, to me Jack and McVeigh hardly got out of second gear and Mummy played well within himself. So they took round 1 as another practice match with the switch to be flicked at round 2.
On Shaw and O'Keefe; Shaw was in sparkling form in the first round of the NAB Cup so has the pre season under his belt. ROK isn't getting any younger so maybe they have been saving him and bringing him on slowly after a bit of an injury to help get him through the season. Many clubs now are looking at resting top players during the season. Why not at the start of the season. Sometimes players first up from a spell play blinders and then have a flat spot. Shaw has had a bit of back as I understand so it was easy for the coaches to ease him back in because of the GWS game. They come into replace Everitt and Cunningham. A no brainer I would think.
No worse than a 50/50 game against Freo as I see it. The positives are we are fresh and Freo come of a tough game. I doubt the "bye" will have any negative bearing at this time of the year. We should be primed for a big one.

Well done guys... You missed the point entirely.
Oh well, never mind. I knew that a lot of what has been written by some of our longest serving members today wouldn't get through.
Anyway we move on. I will miss the banter with some of my favourite posters every day. I'll only be back occassionally to see if there are any fun threads running. At the end of the day, RWO is supposed to be fun and it hasnt been for awhile now.Leave a comment:

That's not the point it was those who were getting ever so over awed about the team selection and getting carried away that you would have thought that the entire season was hanging on this game, but its only round 2. Yet they were already calling for heads to roll- again its only the 2nd round. When we get to round 7 or 8 and things turn to crap the we can hit the panic button. But to be so negative when things are still being sorted out with new players etc is just way too soon.Hmm I thought this was a thread on changes for RND 22 my comments were based on what I thought of the changes and if negative they were only my humble opinion. This place will become very boring if we cant have open discussion on what we like or dislike with team selection, game plan etc Oh lets have a RWO rule no negative comments about the swans because obviously you are not a true supporter.. what tripe.
Cheers

I agree what is the use of us all agreeing. I had a hissy fit because I believe playing non match fit players is not good. But in general i am very open to criticism and don't run to the moderators every five seconds. I like a good laugh and a good argument but I don't like personalised attacks which have happened a lot more lately. If you have a problem with my posts them give me a citation or tell me what is the problem.Hmm I thought this was a thread on changes for RND 22 my comments were based on what I thought of the changes and if negative they were only my humble opinion. I always new that you had a stalkishness about you! ;-) have fun tonight hope the Tigers get up for you.Just saw Lewis Jetta walking around the Sydney Family Show at Moore park with his family. You can see why footballers love it up here. Apart from me stalkng him for a short time (2 1/2 hours) no one was paying him any attention. Just another family enjoying the day.
On Jets, it's extraordinary how slight he is. There's more fat on a chip then there is on jets.Leave a comment:
