Morton...Everitt...Walsh...strange decisions...if you have observed Morton over the years he makes Richards at Essendon look like a champion. I could proceed from that point to say that we should give Morton time...but remember it took Teddy a long time to look pretty good (not great)...I don't think Morton has it in him...and we haven't got time to wait anyway!

Yes well another specialist forward playing back flank. No wonder he isn't doing that well. Why bother getting him to fill a forward gap if we are going to play him back flank? Just seems silly to me! This year anyone who is a forward has been playing anywhere but in the 2's. TDL=on ball & HB, Morton=HB, Lamb=Wing, HB some HF. Jesse has played FF but with a ruck role. Walsh played FF last week but for a few weeks played back & forward. It is a wonder these blokes are bloody confused, I know I am. Put them in their posies and let them get a bit of form for Christ's sake! Stop shifting them around every 5 seconds. By the way Nipper has played on ball nearly so far except when they decided he needed to play back as punishment for @@@@ delivery. Why the hell would you put a bloke in the backline if he is butchering the ball? Beyond me! I thought the idea was not to leak goals and try to score more than the other mob.

We are not going to get the best out of our players in the 2's with this sort of coaching. I don't know what Jarred Crouch is trying to achieve but it sure as hell is not working. Good players are playing very average games and at times just look confused out there. You are not going to turn a natural forward into a backman, it just ain't gonna work so stop trying! If this is about forward pressure he can learn it playing forward just by being dragged and given an earful every time he doesn't do it.

I think there is still room for specialist forwards in this game where everyone is expected to be flexible. IMO they are not making the game any better with this attitude on flexibility. I would like to see forwards kick a bag and not too many do today due to lack of specialist forwards.

There are plenty of specialist forwards, they just don't have the space they use to have, it's either crowded or empty.
And often they find themselves up on the opposition 50 guarding space.
No doubt this style will be temporary as every other before it has.
Flexibility will always be an asset.

On one of those footy shows they were saying that the 2012 style of play (post press apparently) is to have a strong boddied forward and bomb it long to him.

The only strong bodied forward we have is J. White. Maybe the game has changed to suit him.

Yep.
He's a Richmond discard, which doesn't fill one with confidence, but IMO worth a gamble, in the hope that the penny might drop for him..... but a real tester of the Swans famed recycling success.
Has shown little so far, and the signs aren't great. But he does need to be given some time

Agree ROK can play there but we will soon have to look at the replacement for ROK as he will probably retire at the end of the year. TDL needs to get a go soon but they need to start playing him forward in the 2's. I think there is still room for specialist forwards in this game where everyone is expected to be flexible. This seems a likely scenario. If we're going to put him on the park, stick Everitt out on awing or HF. Don't think he'd last long in the ruck

Better still....make him the sub.
He filled this role quite well last year a couple of times.
Given his versatility, and inability to play 4 good quarters, it makes sense to me.

Dogs are still in front with NOT playing Pat V with us actually playing Everitt. Poor decisions, poor execution, no set position, and almost never wins agst his opponent... For this week I'd rather have a small - Smiff for Everitt is NOT a good swap.

This old chestnut again

After playing a terrible game down back in which he was directly responsible for conceding a number of goals he was moved forward in the 2nd half. He kicked 2 goals, one of which came as the final siren went when the game was already in the bag.

A more typical performance is his one possession game last year against the Hawks. He played the full game as well!

How long is it going to take for the MC to work out that he is not up to AFL standard? In fact with his shortcomings I'm not even sure that he could make it as a top line player at state league level.

I'll put my hand up and admit I'm a Jessie White supporter, at least he has shown he can produce at AFL level, albeit inconsistently

BTW - what is the use of a utility for a sub who is poor in all positions, i'd rather have a mid who can come on and use his pace for impact when other legs are tired e.g. Cunningham. Everitt was tried as a sub on multiple occassions last year and couldnt do that

When we replace Smith with Everitt, the team becomes just that less mobile than last weeks combination. I wonder if that's a good trend given that Football Park is just that little bit bigger than the SCG? I think we should have played TDL, Harry or Flash this week and played Mal, Rhyce and Marty as the back half's 3 smalls.
