To be fair he has always had a mild case of the fumbles and disposal can be iffy. BUT he stands up most of the time, and is a unit. So his value is obvious.

Rampe was outstanding, to be sure, but I also think that what Ted Richards did in that first quarter, playing on an absolute gun, was phenomenal, and set the platform and tone?the aggressive, assertive mindset?for the increasingly confident rebounds that followed. And I can't understand the calls (on another thread) for Grundy's head. He is rock solid and, alongside Craig Bird, an unsung cornerstone of the team. As the game progressed, the back six found their shape and rhythm, setting the tempo and allowing the mids and forwards to get to position, which yielded useful, rather than random, forward entries. Much better to watch.

Along with McGlynn, he set the tone early. Was cleaner, and harder, than all around him...And repelled, with interest countless Freo attacks. He continued this form for the entire match.

IMO, he was clearly in the top 2 or 3 players on the ground.

I note Dane is the Herald/Age online pick from the match for the 'player of the week' voting......

I realised today that what was meant was that Ballantyne had no residual points to add on to the penalties for these latest offences.

He's got a bad record all right (as we thought must be the case). It was said today that Ballantyne has been suspended five times in 90 matches. Today's one match suspension is his fourth ban in just over two seasons.

So yes he is a little &%$.

You can work out from the overall votes that Rampe got 2 votes from one coach and none from the other. Of course we don't know from which.

The 2 'one votes' must have gone to Mundy and JPK.
