Best thing tomorrow would for that cow paddock to be declared unplayable. I am expecting a serious injury to someone on that shifting surface.

The ground looked ok on Telly - but there'll be a fair bit more rain and moving those stands back could reveal who knows what....

Pretty much exactly what was said of Mitchell a couple of years ago. We haven't even had one game this year and poor Tom is already written off.

Just saw some footage on TV news. Didn't look too bad actually, seemed as if they were having less rain out there than in the CBD. But I could see lots of divots being kicked up in the closing few minutes.
And a thrown bottle hit one of the refs as he was leaving the field which is pretty appalling.

It seems that he is competing mainly against Bird. Bird is still young and likely has 4-6 years left in him. Same goes for Kennedy and Hannas. I can only assume that the coaches have faith in him otherwise they would have traded him last year. But Mitchell won't be happy playing in the NEAFL waiting for one of the above to retire or be traded. I can't work this out.
I think the next 12 - 18 months spells trouble for both Bird and Mitchell. Heeney is improving rapidly and it's only a matter of time before he starts playing closer to the ball and extracting with Kennedy and Parker. You then have Mills coming through who is said to be a better pure extractor than Heeney and would most definitely be the best 17 year old extractor in the country. Then there is Dunkley who is said to be a strong midfielder in the Kennedy tradition.

I feel that if Bird and Mitchell don't both have strong seasons, the club will be looking at trading them to raise points for the Mills and Dunkley transactions.

That's true, I had thought you were referring to a two-way (or more) trade. The restriction said "the only exceptions .... are players who are drafted to the Sydney Swans via the National Draft in 2014 or 2015 or a delisted free agent who is added to the Primary List ".

The Swans would have had to have been very keen on someone coming up in the draft last year to trade off Tom Mitchell for picks. Whereas it might have been a possibility if they had a particular proven player in mind who was known to be looking for a move. (For example one now at GWS).

But the talls are going to have to be shared out between Teddy, Laids, Reg, & Rohan & Ramps I'd prefer to see Rohan,Ramps & jetts in running roles off the HB or in Jetts case wing or HB.
Yes, I'm also looking forward to seeing the run coming off half back this season. Maybe even Rohan turning himself into something like a new version of Kennelly!?

Yes, Doctor, and perhaps on a slightly different tack: Hank Williams - Your Cheatin' Heart.
