    Reserves v Queanbeyan

    Swans 11.3 19.4 25.5 30.13 (193)
    Tigers 3.2 4.3 5.3 5.4 (34)

Goals: Grundy 6 Schauble 6 Bevan Spriggs Saddington 3 Schmidt Powell McVeigh Malceski 2 Sundqvist 1

Best: Schauble Grundy Bevan McVeigh Saddington Spriggs

There'll be a more detailed report but briefly:
    - Grundy kicked 5 in the first half. Definitely should be retained next year.
    - Schauble kicked 5 in the second half after playing the first quarter in defence. Even though he has an ungainly kicking style, he nailed a couple of long shots. Got a huge cheer when he kicked the final goal on the siren.
    - Maxfield watch: Played the whole game, starting in the midfield then pushed back to the half back flank to set up play. Missed too many targets with his kicking and other midfielders such as McVeigh, Moore, Bevan and Spriggs had better games.
    - Malceski didn't appear after the first quarter. He was thrown heavily on his right shoulder early in the first quarter but played the rest of the quarter out and kicked 2 goals. Not sure whether that was the cause of his absence.
    - Saddington was the first choice ruckman with Shaw as his backup. If Ball doesn't pull up well from today's game, Saddo might be an option.
    - Checking, especially inside the forward 50 by the Tigers was almost non-existent. There were numerous goals where the Swans managed to improved the angle of the shot by chipping it to a man in clear space.
    - I'm not sure what has happened to Ryan Quade, but he was on the Tigers team today and I think played for them last week as well. He was originally from the Queanbeyan team. Have the Swans delisted him already?

Quade not on the Swans list. He's a top-up player.

Would be rapt if Grundy makes the grade. Another Norwood boy (to join Fossie and Crouch)!

I can feel the 'bring back Schauble (for at least one goodbye game)' sentiment growing like a tide. He could play on big lug Simon Taylor who's been loitering in the Hawks' forward line (and presumably providing swapping with Spider).

Grundy will be promoted, no doubt.

Quade has always been referred to as being on the 'supplementary list', whatever that means. Its different to the top up players, who by the way included Trent Goodrem.

Grundy might replace Heath James on the senior list. James started on the bench and played less than half the game. Not sure what was wrong with him. Grundy has an excellent work ethic, and if perhaps Vogels wasn't on the rookie list as well, he might have been selected for a couple of games.

Malceski was injured during the game. Seemed like a foot or ankle injury. God i hope he's alright.

Also it was reported by Nicksy at the aftermatch that Maxfield pulled up sore too. Didn't seem good.

Heath James pulled a hamstring- not too serious and should be right for next week.

Well don't know about the rest, but the Grand Final would be played at Manuka on September 18th. Might get along to that and support our boys....

mmmm a touch of arrogance there

That's the problem with modern day medicine - there's no more natural selection of the species.
No wonder there's so many Collingwood fans.

I was going to ask you if you had any inside knowledge. I had a go at digging around aflcanberra.com.au but the fixtures only seems to show as far as the coming week.

Depending on the timing of it and how the seniors are going I wouldn't mind making the effort to head down and watch the magoos in the big one (assuming they make it).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
