Best: Schauble Grundy Bevan McVeigh Saddington Spriggs
There'll be a more detailed report but briefly:
- Grundy kicked 5 in the first half. Definitely should be retained next year.
- Schauble kicked 5 in the second half after playing the first quarter in defence. Even though he has an ungainly kicking style, he nailed a couple of long shots. Got a huge cheer when he kicked the final goal on the siren.
- Maxfield watch: Played the whole game, starting in the midfield then pushed back to the half back flank to set up play. Missed too many targets with his kicking and other midfielders such as McVeigh, Moore, Bevan and Spriggs had better games.
- Malceski didn't appear after the first quarter. He was thrown heavily on his right shoulder early in the first quarter but played the rest of the quarter out and kicked 2 goals. Not sure whether that was the cause of his absence.
- Saddington was the first choice ruckman with Shaw as his backup. If Ball doesn't pull up well from today's game, Saddo might be an option.
- Checking, especially inside the forward 50 by the Tigers was almost non-existent. There were numerous goals where the Swans managed to improved the angle of the shot by chipping it to a man in clear space.
- I'm not sure what has happened to Ryan Quade, but he was on the Tigers team today and I think played for them last week as well. He was originally from the Queanbeyan team. Have the Swans delisted him already?
