Thread: Rnd 12 v Queanbeyan

    Hmmm, interesting.

Brennan actually has the attributes to be a leading full forward in the Bradshaw style, although I would never have contemplated it before.

    He's fast
He's got a very clean pair of hands

Kicking, well maybe this performance suggests he is an okay set shot as opposed to kicking on the run.

He's listed at 185 cms 85kgs but plays taller and looks a lot heavier than that.

Too early to say if this is just a once off, but maybe he's found a niche.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Said it before: Mathews was born with natural footballing talent of a decent state-league level player, and by sheer hard work has become a near-enough-to-200-game player at the top level. And even at this stage of his career, won't just coast and do the minimum. Doesn't change the fact that he's not in our best 22 (although he may well be in our best 25), but it's great for our kids to have someone like him to learn from. Learn up, kids: he won't be around forever!

Only player in the squad unaccounted for: Terlich. Which is unfortunate as last week was only the 2nd time for the year (the first time being round 1) that he's been in the best players, and he's well and truly under the pump for a 2009 spot.

It's hard to see how Brennan has any future at all as a defender at senior level. He has none of the height required to play a KP, none of the speed required to play HBF or BP, and none of the precision passing skills required to play any of the above. If he can turn this kind of performance on for another 2 weeks, might as well give him a go up forward and see what happens. With some exciting rookies and juniors, Brennan is another who could be for the high-jump at the end of '08 unless something happens.

If the umps are anything like the Swans' reserves coaches, Faulks could be in contention for the Mulrooney at the end of the year. In the best players for 8 out of the last 9 weeks from defence, is a pretty amazing effort.

Brennan up forward is hardly a revelation.

Although he has only played back when promoted to the seniors, he played at least a third of his games last year up forward in the 2's.

    - 9 goals no behinds (1 OOBOTF) for Brennan.
    - 5 goals for Veszpremi all in the 1st half.

    Anything else of interest.......
Would like to read the report like the one that was given for the Tuggeranong match - am too far away to get to the games and would like to see the development of the younger players seeing that at the start of the year, we were not meant to make the finals and our younger players were not as good as others.....
