    Round 14 - GWS Giants

I don't think we'll have too much trouble against the Giants this Saturday night at ANZ Stadium.

However, it's fair to say the Giants have surprised a lot of people in their debut season. They've been far more competitive than just about everyone expected, far more so than the Suns were last year. Jeremy Cameron is a gun forward, Jonathon Patton is ominous and players like Stephen Coniglio and Dylan Shiel looks the goods in the midfield. So they will probably put up more of a fight than last time.

What will be of interest is how many people show up. Round 1 was their home game, so they get credit for that crowd of 38,203. A report in today's SMH appeared to be dampening down expectations about the turnout, with a figure of perhaps 30,000 being suggested. Not a good look to be outdone by little brother, but given that our average crowd at the SCG has been about 21,000 this year, 30K would not be a bad effort.

    Swans by 45.

Coniglio is out with a long term injury I think.

60-70 points if we turn up the heat for the whole game, their kids look a bit tired now. We also know a bit more about them than we did in Round 1 so know who their key players are to target for shutdown.

A lot of people turned out for the R1 clash to get a look at GWS and the historical significance of the inaugural game. It's winter now and we've seen plenty of GWS so a smaller crowd I'd reckon. We know how many were Swans supporters in the first game cowd, 65-70%+ I'd suggest.

They rested Chad Cornes and used Luke Power as a substitute in what was a possible win game for them. As it turned out they were comprehensively beaten after a promising start. I think all signs suggest that they will employ a very defensive set-up like they did in Round 1 to minimise the possible damage.

After how we drubbed the dogs and the dees wouldn't be suprised if we won by 80+. However saying that the Giants don't look like pushovers, so better not get too self-assured.

Should we not be using this game to a/ run some form into Goodes and Mummy and Reid? b/ try out a couple of youngsters?

With comp so close we should be looking to boosting our percentage- and this is the game to do it. GWS have surprised everyone and it's great to see and they will be a force in a few years with the talent they have. But in 2012 the Swans hv a good chance of finishing in the top 4. As for crowd numbers why worry so much about it? If the Swans keep going the way they the crowds will eventually come - And if we are still neck and neck with. Collingwood by round 20 the AFL will advertise here in Sydney to saturation point and the crowd will come. And what a good look that will be!!!!

For once even I'm quite confident we can win this one easily. Unless we 'play to the level of our opponent' as we often do ... a heart-stopper vs GWS would be too humiliating though.

    Swans by percentage.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I just bought tickets for a couple of Giants member friends, PAX numbers were 26100-26101. Hopefully the weather will be decent so there's a good walk-up.
