    Mulrooney Medal 2013

Will be announced at a luncheon tomorrow. Jake Lloyd would be the favourite from the Swans, with Shane Biggs and Harry Cunningham likely to poll well too. Jesse White is a sneaky chance despite playing only half the number of games, he's put in some great numbers, definite 3-voters, in some of them and that might be enough to see him over the line.

But the hot favourite should be Belconnen's James Bennett who has dominated in Belco's midfield since returning from his year in the SANFL.

    And we are the beneficiaries!
    Great work ugg, and thanks.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

yes thanks Ugg .. I just had a look at about 10 Belconnen past games .. if James Bennett does not win I think they should hold an enqury. We have had 17 of players that have played 2nds also play in the top grade this year. Hard for just one to shine. Jake Lloyd will pole ok but his strength is consistency, week in week out being one of the best in the team.

According to this really grainy photo, after Round 12 (of 22), James Bennett leading on 9 with White on 8 and Walsh on 6 for us.

James Bennett has won the Mulrooney Medal.

Hopefully they'll put up the full count on the NEAFL website.

Why why why did we have to drag Jesse back into the Seniors! He could have killed that!!

I'm sure this thread will be lost very quickly but thought it is interesting for our knowledge of up and coming players. The full list is up now. I know Ugg had put in a request for it to be published.

James Bennett from Belconnen won on 21 pts. 2nd place got 15 pts.

    Our players Biggs 10, White 8, Walsh 6, Cunningham 6, Lamb 5, Brown 5, Richards 3, Robinson 3, Towers 3, Hadden 2, Morton 1, Brassil 1 and Lloyd 1.

The thing that amazed me was the that Walsh got maximum points just before being elevated but then having season ending injury. Also shocked that Lloyd only got 1 point, maybe strength is consistency and often best games are when we lost.

    Who is Mulrooney?

    Any relations to Micky Rooney??
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.
