Gws looked to be training there this morning. Anyone know if the swans have training planned there too?

I thought they trained there yesterday.

Just wish he could get his body right! Every time he starts to show real promise he breaks down! Fingers crossed he can play out the year when he finally returns!

Rohan's injury and McVeigh being out as well for round 1 gives Nic Newman a big opportunity to fill a spot if he can show something in these NAB games.

There is always a positive. Someone gets their chance now.

Any word on which rookie will be promoted in his place?

On a separate note, do we know what is the matter with Melican?

Putting Rohan onto the LTIL suggests the club thinks it possible that at least two rookie listed players might be worthy of senior footy in the first half of the season, given there is already a LTIL spot available for AJ. But it doesn't mean they will definitely promote someone. A player has to be on the LTIL for at least eight weeks. By placing Rohan on the list now, rather than when they need his spot to promote someone, it means they can bring him back in eight weeks if he's ready to resume. If they waited, they'd either not be able to put him on the list, or his return might be delayed beyond when he's ready.

Given Melican still seems to be injured, Galloway is a stick (and a raw one at that), and O'Riordan is still very early in his process of learning the game, the likely candidates are limited. Papley's been named in the squad for the NAB Cup games, which suggests the club thinks he might not be far off. Foote's in his second season, though it's hard to see him pushing past the likes of Hewitt and Robinson. Marsh seems to be down the pecking order, and Murray's probably pretty raw. That pretty much leaves Newman as the most likely. We'll have a better idea after we see him play tomorrow.

iPad/iPhone/Android phone or tablet - you can watch on the AFL Live app. I believe they have a free trial going.
