I hope Heeney is injured 🤕, he’s no where near the player he was last year

Who knows what it is with Heeney but he's a shadow of last year :-(

Horse is on record saying he plays with pain- he had a persistent ankle injury and this may still be troubling him, though he may be carrying something else as well. He may need an extended rest, unfortunately. Time to introduce HHK now- give him a few games and let’s see. Some players have a high tolerance for pain but we need to manage them for the longer run!

Time to move Callum to FF.

Gulden is surprising given how good a kick he usually is. Last year he kicked 18.6 (3 no scores) at 66.67% so he's definitely a huge drop off. Both Heeney and Franklin (our top 2 goalkickers last year) were 56%, and Hayward who was 3rd had 53%.

I think we should play two Rucks - Jackson just had his best game for Fremantle and they have Darcy as well. Stephens on Serong to prove we made the right pick!

Alternate out is McLean and we stick Francis into the backline.

    Thoughts?
Sheather only has bone bruising. He could yet come up. Stephens would be more than ok if he didn't. The Jackson/Darcy match up is going to be problematic. If we don't get another tall back there we are at a huge disadvantage just like we were against Cats. I think Francis has to go back. I thought he was pretty good when he came on and played back. A few really strong spoils and he did not let his man go too often.

McLean was good last week hard to drop when in such good form. It wasn't his fault our mids ran out of petrol.

Hickey got 38 HO and 13 disposals in the reserves. I think 13 is pretty poor in the VFL for a top flight player. McAndrew got 33 & 19 and he's a rookie ruck. Not sure Hick is ready yet, although 38 HO is outstanding.

I am worried about the forward/mids disconnect. I am of the opinion Bud should be rested. He was very poor last week. Seemed rushed, did not make position well and was murdered by Moore. If Amartey were fit I would say Bud to Sub. In fact I am still of the opinion sub would be best this week. He can pinch hit. Come on and be a fresh player when the backs are tired.
    Maybe Hall-Khan to come in.

Bud wont be sub, he is on the list this year to Play. I reckon he is the opposite of being rushed in that he thinks he has more time then he does.

If Hickey is fit he plays surely, especially this week.

Ladhams and McCartin (Tom) both ruled out for this week.

Surely Hickey and McAndrew should be in? We need some tall timber!

I suspect The Pelican might get a game this week.
