Who would backup Ruck ? We arent a tall too many we are a tall short

And this is the exact reason Hayward went downhill, instead if playing him on someone his own size to his advantage, we played him "tall" on a tall defender to negate his advantage

Its like when Cox said Blakey can play tall defender because of his height and totally negated his weapons, not to mention put Tom Mc fwd, the dumbest move in coaching history

There is a team 3 games clear on top which should be the blue print for selection

We need to find a point of difference if we want to make an impact in finals. We have lost to all 5 of our top competition in the the finals, so something has to change. These next 3 games represent a good chance to experiment with some alternatives. It gives us a chance to see what might work better, so we can elevate or game enough to beat these teams we haven't been able to beat this season.

Wicks can come in for Rowbottom. It's a personnel rather than a positional replacement.

Drop the poor contributors, Rosas and McLean, and bring in Datoli and Green to replace them.

Maybe Sheldrick come in for Kyle, effectively replacing Rowbotttom, postionally speaking.

I wish we would stop talking about Lloyd, who has become a rotation winger, who still makes a big contribution to our side. Can play, and has played off both wings. He has the versatility to play all outside positions, which makes him a valuable rotation player in our current side.

We will review the game on Monday and see how our changes went. JMac looks probable the next week.

Hopefully Snell recovers enough to get a shot to play AFL this year. I think he is a better player than Edwards, except Edwards has size and power in his favour. I think both will be in our team next year, fitness permitting.

I would like to keep Kyle in the side too, but it might be hard to do if we get lucky by not getting more injuries.

Sorrry for the typos, but my vision is not up to editing, so my post are just what my touch typing permits.
Talk about Lloyd now or Datolli during trade period, can't have it bothways

McLean has the same average as a forward. He always struggles against good teams. He should do well over the next 3 games against Port, Essendon and North but in the finals he will struggle. Look at his last 4 weeks.
I know the club are very keen to get Armartey back for the finals, and while McLean may be marginally better in the ruck the feeling is that Logan and Armartey offer much more up forward, and in the early part of the season competed well when relieving Grundy in the ruck.
The other alternative is to give Green a couple of games to see how he goes. He could not be worse than McLean

            In: L.Melican, S.Wicks, J.Dattoli, J.Hamling
            Out: W.Edwards (leg), D.Rampe (managed), J.Rowbottom (hand), M.Rosas (omitted)

Seems fair enough, although Rampe being rested is slightly surprising.

              Ohh Yes

              in Dattoli, Wicks, Hamling, Melican
Out - Rosas, Rowbottom, Edwards, Rampe

we were crying out for these changes and we got it.
I reckon the MC has recognised the need for to sure up our defence and the offence and leave the middle as it is. Let’s see how we do. I think Sheldrick has to do more with his disposal efficiency, pressure and inside 50’kick and score board pressure to get in. Hopefully he tries to do that in VFL and comes in late.
I think Wicks will be a good addition. he will provide some defensive craft in smalls and some run off half back. It will create opportunities for Blakey and Gulden.
We need to get our running game off half back going come September. That’s our point of difference and yes we may not be good in contest we are good in one aspect and let’s capitalise on that and let’s see how we excel

Logan rucked destroyed his fwd time even if it was less than 15%

Ruck Fwd is different to Fwd

Put Mclean crashing packs as a fwd and thea3 of them will dominate

If Hamling goes anywhere near that fwd line I'll throw up

Yeah, I would have had 'omitted' next to Dane's name. He seems to be getting less effective every week. I sense a retirement announcement coming.

Mills to the Middle, Ramps to his role
Melican/Snell in Blakey higher up the ground

The Gulden finals tag is coming, be good to have Blakey running thru the middle as well to help out

Rosas was replaced by Datoli, which makes sense. Lloyd and Datoli are not competing for a spot.

Good side and about as good as we are going to get i reckon (save Rowbottom and Jmac back) - Snell got thst injury at wrong time.

Bit surprised neither Sheldrick or Cleary were selected to replace Rowbottom. This tells me Mills is likely to play more midfield minutes, as we have extra defender options to play down back.

Rampe being managed wasn’t expected, but understandable.

Happy Dattoli finally gets his chance. Hope he makes the most of it.

Thought Kyle would make way due to his low numbers, but i'm ok he stays to continue his development .

Agree that Snell would've been more likely to replace Rampe had he not got injured.

Cox mentioned in an interview that when JR went off he put Campbell on the ball and he had an influence. About bloody time. In his draft year he was rated the best midfielder in the draft, but Longmire decided he was a defender (daft). 17 other clubs would have taken him if we didn't.Hopefully he rotates him through the midfield. Super fit and runs all day. I don't see any need to play Mills in the midfield. He adds stability down back. About time Dettoli got a run.
