The club have a lot of bargaining power with Blakey given his long contract, should he desire to move.

At the end of the day, these 5 wouldn't be facing the predicament they were in if they had used a little common sense in the first place. If he does turn out to have been effectively caught in the crosshairs, I will have sympathy for Blakey to some degree. But equally he is absolutely old enough and should be wise enough (Especially given he comes from a footy family) to recognise why the club acted as it did. And if he isn't - well that is on him.

It isn't 1975 anymore, and a willingness to sweep everything under the carpet can no longer be the mode of operation of footy clubs.

Protecting and backing your own is not a new concept, especially without an investigation completed.

Piling it on appears to be the order of the day, very disappointing from the club
Where precisely have the club sought to 'pile it on' UU?

You really do love to throw @@@@ at the club, when you've got literally no idea what is going on behind the scenes. Outside of the statements made, the club have said nothing. It is the media that has being doing the pile on, not the club.

Unless you have actual evidence to demonstrate how the club isn't doing what it should be doing to ensure appropriate support is available for the players off the park (which I am sure it will be - it just isn't desperate to publicise every single thing it has underway), then find another record to play. They gave players a chance to provide their views and made a call with the initial sanctions as any club would have done in the same situation.

Either provide evidence for your claims or shut the f up already.

It would nice if the board showed some loyalty to the players given what has happened. Pavlich seems just another woke idiot.

Guys, the club had no alternative but to suspend the players involved. Do you honestly think the Board and Management don’t love our club and torpedoed our season to please community expectations or the media? Come on, that’s ridiculous. What these players did was stupid on all levels and cannot be tolerated- I’m not even talking about the alleged SA which the police are investigating. Surely they knew that partying into the wee hours of the morning, especially 2 weeks from the finals is wrong, yet they went ahead regardless. This is simply not acceptable and if not punished severely, what hope for the future even though it may sacrifice our current season?

At the same time, the club has to show tough love as these players must be feeling totally dejected and possibly suffering from depression. They have expressed remorse so we should forgive them for the partying. However, the SA is another matter and we need the police investigation to be speeded up for everyone’s sake. Either there is evidence or there isn’t and it could be a case of she said/ he said and then what? So it’s imperative that the police get to the bottom of this urgently as these players are currently hung out to dry- though of course we have zero tolerance for any SA on women.

Regarding Blakey or any of the the other players involved: as much as we love them as Swans, if they wish to leave then that’s their choice. Of course we don’t want them to, but the club will survive and if they truly love our club then they will do everything in their power to prove it. Whoever chooses to leave us and join another club will make us sad, but we’ll get over it. The sun will rise tomorrow.

Does anyone on this platform have empathy for the accussed five? What they did was dumb but not horrendous. 2 week suspension is the standard. I see no reason to extend it further. The suicide rate of young men is 7 per day in Australia. I dont see the club doing anything to support these young men.

Days later now and nothing on this 'rumour' in the press or anywhere for that matter. Speculation on 'Gettable' isn't confirmation either.

Wow, the constant lazy use of the word 'woke' and the abuse really shines a light on you mate.....and it's not flattering. You do not know what the board are or are not doing.

You are entitled to have an opinion but the endless speculation is tiresome and pointless.

So the club are "piling it on" the players are they? They sanctioned them and are likely supporting them as well. Hardly 'piling it on'. As I said to crackedactor, you do not know what the board are or are not doing.

Constant speculation without facts, although it may make you feel better or even important, is just not helping at all and is irrelevant. Give it a rest.

Of course I empathise with them and I hope they are all doing ok and I'm sure others on here do as well......but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished because of some stats dragged straight from the sooky manosphere.

You're right, you don't see the club doing anything because you are not there.....it doesn't mean the club isn't doing anything for them. I'm sure they want them all to stay and redeem themselves.....except maybe Bice, who it turns out is the one that ordered the strippers for the night.
