Surprised by the tribunal's decision to upheld the 1 match ban and not consider Lachie's umblemished record across his 320 career, as they had did with Pendlebury & Gary Ablett Jr.

Interesting Tribunal reasoning for not doing so because it was a deliberate striking action off the ball.

Brisbane will most likely appeal and will be an unwanted distraction to their GF prep.

Yeah, Neale's not playing for a Victorian side either, as Pendlebury and Ablett were. The tribunal were not subjected to local 'outrage'. Poor decision....I hope the Lions win the appeal.

I don’t agree with the previous two posts. Neale has been treated exactly the same as the previous 9 gut punchers this year after the AFL said they were cracking down on it. It was calculated sniping behind play so the “good bloke” defence doesn’t apply. The Pendlebury comparison doesn’t work because that was an ambiguous act in play, not something 50 metres behind play.
it will be pathetic if the Appeals Board manufactures some basis for exonerating him.

IIRC Paul Kelly was suspended for 4 weeks for a gut punch at the SCG. 4 weeks, and likes of Whatelely are whinging about one week.

1996: Andrew Dunkley got suspended for supposedly gouging the wonder boy Hird. Correct me if I'm wrong, again IIRC there was no vision of this happening in a scrimmage of players.
