In the other thread I noted the punishment did not fit the crime, there was no doubt in mind that consciously or subconsciously, the potential criminal charges were taken into account.
By bending to the mob team chemistry has been blown up.
Its to go to Chad and say pony up and sign (we will have much more cash if Blakey goes) otherwise we will look forward what we can get for you as well). Would love him to stay and sign a new deal but if not time to move on.
Spend all the picks on 1 or 2 players of super quality, i think we can cope without Blakey and Chad in return for a couple of top notch defenders (or at least 1 and another player of real quality).
This is all going to be so embarassing if no charges are ever laid, I said at the time dont bow to the mob and screw the AFL, 1 or 2 matches was appropriate for what was said to be punishment (to be honest a fine wouldnt have been out of the question).
Our club has completely and utterly mishandled this, make the punishment fit the crime, if the crime becomes more serious then punish accordingly.
As for Blakey grow up and start acting like a mature professional and not a spoiled brat. Irrespective of what happened in that room going out boozing a week before the finals says everything and i think explains the 2 disastrous GF performances.4
If we are lucky the whole debacle may have seen the rest of the group discover what the "bloods" culture really is. If they have we may have a realistic change of another flag. Our past success relied more on the efforts of the talented players not their talents.👍 1Comment

So here's the news re Harry C. Seems the promise of an extra year (2 vs 1 with us) as much as the coaching pathway, which I'm sure we could have offered, was the sealer.
But regardless, go well. He was one of my faves, a great clubman, the young players just loved him to bits and he's given us awesome service.
And yes, hope we see him back in the coaching ranks one. He'd make a ripping development coach.

I'm a big fan of Mr Cunningham, has always given it his all and loved his sneaky burts of "everyone knew he was quick, but not that quick!" speed. He and Mrs C also let me live above their garage for years, too. Ayyyy,So here's the news re Harry C. https://www.afl.com.au/news/1629056/...being-delistedI knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Yes, good return on pick 91 in the 2011 rookie draft. Just for the hell of it, I did a quick count of the number of players that he's outlasted from that draft and the 2011 main draft. My tally was 157: many of which I only had a vague idea, or no idea, who they were.So here's the news re Harry C. We better hold firm on this
Charlie was Will and 3x 1sts for Charlie 2x 2nds and a 3rd plus Ollie for free who finished 2nd in their F&B
5 yrs remaining, 12mil offer, if this offer isnt too good to walk away from we are dumb as @@@@
Hold him, and talk again next trade period with 4 yrs remaining if we have to
Screw the draft, its way too compromised👍 1Comment

If we don't get the above, I am more than happy to hold onto him, I am sure we will kiss and make up and he will either get over it or he can try his luck again each year until his contract expiresWe better hold firm on this

Hoping the guy gets convicted as we know it would be the only thing thats justifies Sydney's previous sanctions

Don't care if we make up, he has 5 yrs, we can do this every year if we have toComment

Just hold firm- we have to make a stand here. He has a 5 year contract so, sorry, we’re not interested in any trade. Reconcile or play in the magoos.👍 1Comment

Swans should totally ignore taking future picks. They'll be so diluted they'll be worth JS. We know Blakey is a star but draft picks are airy fairy and could mean you swap Blakey for stuff-all. Remember we had pick 5 a few years back and ended up with Dyl.Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment
