The good news is Edwards should be back reasonably early in the season. It’s a bit hard to put a precise timing on it this far out given the risk of complications and how complex it was, but my understanding is he’s likely to be back to full training late in the preseason. He might then need a strong block before he plays, but some of the early projections that he’d miss half or all of the season are off the mark at this stage.

If Sam De Koning is the guessed $600k pa he does offer good value if he can find his mojo……. Would a pick 33 only get it done ? I don’t think so. maybe two second round picks? Maybe ? if they need the $ for other players in the cap.
given Will Green has just turned 21yrs old in Sept
given Grundy turns 33yrs in April 2027
Sam De Koning would help our backline for 2027 especially given the loss of Blakey 195cm, Rampe maybe moving on, Cunningham gone and Mills out till the last rounds of the season 2027 at best.
to have an experienced KPD for 2027 (that is turning 26yrs old) in 2027 could provide some strong competition for spots and most likely a starting defender in 2027
but Sam could help be that transition for a super lean young tall Will Green post Grundy retiring and equally if Grundy misses a lot of football due to age / injuryLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; Yesterday, 11:08 AM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Yes noticed big time.
Nick made absolutely no mention of the umteenth years he spent being nurtured, coached and developed into the player he now is.
Shows him as such an undeveloped poor character....Good riddance!Comment

re dekoning Need to startsoon if on the cards at allcats 1st this yr is 36. they have sold first rnd for 20227 and second round for 2028 and picked up 2 picks for 2028 a 3rd and 4th rnd
so our 28 ist from nth might do and we can add 38 or 39 from this yr. Go to it ChrisComment

At face value, if the Blakey's do feel aggrieved by the club's actions (rightly or wrongly) it's probably not surprising.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

So I suppose the question now that we have $1m extra is upgrading Gulden long term and starting more serious negotiations for Chad ?
among others we may want to retain asap and extend their contractsLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; Yesterday, 04:03 PM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Has Cootee and or Hanily maybe overtaken the role that Jordon plays for the Swans?
ie they both can tag quite well and they both have more strike power re goals and attacking nous
I wonder if we will upgrade them as value contract extensions now that we have wriggle $
this $1m won back provides great opportunities to maintain our list and not loose players we may have wanted to keep
Kyle, McInerney and Serong rotating off the HBF and wing have upside in their flexibility through a game and season. Serong has shown more than expected and maybe that floating cut off quick counter HBF going into 2027?
Campbell on the HBF, Wing or his preferred forward wing spot can play in multiple wing possies
Roberts and Bice both can play wing and HBF as value signings who can execute on the kick and handball
im feeling quite happy we have win back $ to settle our squad retainment ahead of time…….powder is dry and in a stronger position to negotiate earlier

Not even close, JJ is miles ahead
We need to have JJ tagging a HBF where he can hit the scoreboard
Tagging in the middle of the ground is overrated.👍 1Comment

I beg to differ with you on this one.
Not true at all, Carmichael was the Allies player of the Carnival U18 Carnival and named in the All australian team that year, All draft watchers had above Kyke in their rankings - GWS forced our hand and they chose Kyle i am not saying he won't be a good player and he has shown he may become a good player he showed a bit, wether that translates to becoming a really good player we can only hope - i hope Carmichael becomes home sick lol
Talking to the recruiters prior to the draft, they were well aware of the interest from GWS and Hawthorn on Kyle and had decided under no circumstances would they let him slip through the draft.
All along they knew that if this occurred they would have to make difficult decisions, and when Carmichael came up not long after they chose to pass.
I am not saying that Carmichael is not a good player, but in this instance they got it right
It is worth noting that the anticipated bid on Max King did not come till very late, and this enabled the club to snare both Phillopou and Cootee

The other big one next year at least is Tom McCartin. He’s happy in Sydney but don’t assume someone won’t come and throw big money at him and unlike Chad, we don’t have the option of matching to force a trade. He’s elite these days, as his obliteration of Morris and Tracey in the two finals proved, so his price will be high.Comment
