Davis asks for second chance

I?m no Davis lover, but it saddens me that nobody from Roos down has been able to find the correct buttons to push that will get Davis motivated. In any industry, the sacking of an employee is also a reflection on the failure of management to get the employee to perform. It hurts that a bloke who would be in our top five talent wise looks like being fired for non performance.
Roos is a bloody good coach, but I reckon he would be the first to admit that he has failed with Nick Davis.
The Swans have a reputation of being one of the best clubs at getting optimum performance from their players ? are any other clubs going to have the confidence that they can succeed where the Swans have failed? Maybe one will, but Davis? trade value has diminished to the extent that all the Swans could expect in return is an empty KFC box. Retirement or second tier footy looks more likely.Pay peanuts get monkeysComment

Toy-boy-roy, you can't blame Roosey; and I wouldn't say that Roosey failed.
Davo failed.
He didn't do what was expected of him ... he didn't even do the minimum of what was expected of him.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but our game doesn't involve as many "stoppages" as it used to - the gameplan has changed somewhat. IF you can't accept that there are changes and go with the flow, you're going to be left behind. It happens everywhere - not just on the footy field.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Assuming that I'm gleeful, or assuming Davo is a failure??
Isn't it making assumptions saying that Roosey failed???
FFS - he bought us home a PREMIERSHIP. Rocket didn't do that.
Barass didn't do that.
In no way is Roosey a failure.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

They were just accidents.
I'm pretty god-damn sure Goodesy doesn't do it on purpose.
He has, on more than several occasions, busted through the pack without taking anyone out - memorably, where he scored a goal from 60m out.
Besides, you can't compare someone who has played 204 firsts games in a row (toeing the company line) to someone who has played 2 firsts games in a season (and still wont toe the company line).Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

get your hand off itYou are obviously referring to Davo's manager Thommo. Now there's a man who has experienced the lot. Punch ups with team mates, relocations, one man media campaigns extolling his virtues, contract terminations and dummy spits. Just the boy for the job. It was obvious during the St Kilda game Davis had no future at the club. The Geelong performance underlined it. His departure frees up much needed cash under the cap. And most importantly there is some justice. ROK can be retained on a fair remuneration. Thats fair. A bloke who gives it his all, works his backside off every match, gets a pay increase while his former fellow half forward flanker who barely raised a sweat gets shown the door. Hopefully Davo can recover his "confidence" with the Dockers or the Dees. As long as it somewhere faaaaarrrr away with another club. Win/ Win I say.Theres not much left to sayComment

We need to stop singling out Roos, why are the Reserves coach immune to this criticism?Originally posted by ORBRoos is a bloody good coach, but I reckon he would be the first to admit that he has failed with Nick Davis.
Or is Roos just a title covering all support staff? I am not being faecious (sp?), genuinely would like to know."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

So you don't think there is any relationship between the greatly improved payments in a contract for a genuinely outstanding footballer and the cutting of an under-performing, over-confident, 15 minutes of fame pretender? It might have escaped your attention but Andrew Ireland's little chat with the Kid Terrific occurred at the same time as ROK's contract negotiations were underway. as for davis, im not saying he is a star but hes hardly the under performing flop you speak of in fact compared to the love of your life id say he is well ahead.Theres not much left to sayComment

"You hope the week on the sideline will have an impact on Adam because clearly what we are saying to him as coaches is not getting across."
Accidents or not, Goodes is ignoring the coach's instructions. I think it's a big stretch to say Davis is ignoring instructions.
In Davis case, Roos (and perhaps the leadership group - their tentacles seem to extend everywhere) has set benchmarks and Davis hasn't been able to meet them. Everything I've read and heard would indicate Davis is taking the advice on board and trying to reach the benchmark."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
