Of course he's not using the venue as an excuse for last night's performance. But I tell you this... Until Sydney gets a proper AFL ground in Sydney, Sydney will only be a second rate AFL city.

The AFL needs it's OWN ground in Sydney, where THEY decide the terms of how the ground is used/managed. It's BS that any AFL team has to play on that pitiful ground.

The ground was awful and it won't be improved any time soon because the NRL would have a stinker. Bolton and Cloke are lucky not to have sustained injuries after their encounters with the potholes.

I think you are right. I also thought that Kirk was, if not outstanding, certainly a stand out.

His 2 intercepts, and 2 passes to Hall on the chest (incl. the strange banana pass) were some of the best plays of the night from our perspective.

the condition of the field was absolutely disgraceful last night.

The ground was that soft you could've fallen on it from the top tier and gotten right back up.

To add to our unhappy night, we had a one man Pies supporter cheer squad behind us with the most BOOMING voice
BORE IT UP EM BOYS, KICK IT RIGHT PLAYFAIR, KICK IT LEFT MICK, YOU ARE A LOSER HALL.
Every command he boomed was obeyed, it was surreal.

Disagree completely. Goodes would have added 20-30 possessions, more hard ball gets, took their best tagger and brought other players into the game.

He is a superstar of the comp. They make more then an iota of a difference.

But we have the factual evidence of three almost identical games last year against the Pies, each of which Goodes played in, two of which he played brilliantly in, all of which were as farcical as last night's "effort" (I use the word advisedly) despite Goodes.

With or without Goodes we would of lost....it was by far IMO the worst game of footy i seen in a longggggggggggggtime..

We made an ordinary looking Wobbles side look great,,I couldnt agree more whilst listening to the game on MMM..as i sat at ANZ..that yes we are looking like pretenders...when we came up against real opponents we stuttered and fell into a giant heap ...kiss the FINALS goodbye...look at our run home,who are we kidding.

Is it just me, or do the swans play better football when they don't have Barry up front .. I look at other teams and there really aren't that many that have a forward with an attitude that compares to Barry. It must be really demotivating for the rest of the team to have abuse hurled at them every time a kick doesn't go to him ..
I've been a fan since the swanette's were getting cold on their stage waiting for an elusive goal (as this was the only time they got to dance), and I'm sad to say .. Barry Hall has got to go!
It was only for a matter of a few millimetres and he wouldn't have a choice .. Wakelin drilled him last night, and almost got decked for his troubles.
Im hoping at the beginning of next season our forward line will read: O'Loughlin / Fevola / Davis ...

Agreed. He certainly lacks the match-winning class of a Judd or a Hird, but his decision making under pressure is always superb and he manages to create time when he has the ball in his hands. I'm just glad to see he's cemented his place in the Swans hall of greats.
