Grundy - Forward

He did play some time up forward on Saturday evening.

He was moved to FF in the 3rd quarter - not coincidentally when things started to turn around.

I suggested this last week, but with LRT filling the backline. I don't know what horse will do, clearly TDL will get a full game as a lead up forward, we still need someone with a big body who can take marks in a body contest. Reg does that pretty well. However, we have to balance the unsettling effect on our defensive unit, and remember that we got smashed in the mid field against Tiges, then couldn't clear defensive 50. We might be another year off being a serious threat, but we'll win enough games to get to the finals and who knows from there. Until Goodes and Mummy get back, I suppose we will have to make compromises in team selection. The ressies report was interesting, in terms of Pyke, Morton, Harry and bulldog. I still think we jump on Jesse before he is up to speed at top level, this can take some time jumping from the under 12's to teh under 18's type of thing

Grundy actually got to a fair few contests, and with more/better delivery could have really made an impact. I really quite liked him there. Looked far more convincing than White has looked in a long time, and the only forward that had a bigger impact was Everitt (who wasn't exactly marvellous himself, but our forwardline was simply terrible).

To be fair, Horse was trying to throw different ideas around on Saturday. At one centre bounce in the third quarter every one of our forward line was a midfielder - Parker, Jack, Hannebury, Jetta, etc - there was not one tall. Horse was trying everything, hoping that something would work.

I have been an advocate of Grundy in the forward line before, but really he should be a pinch-hitter, not permanent, ala what Hunter was for WC.

I looked up through my tears on Saturday night to see Reg, Itsy and Jesse draped accross the half forward line all looking like they would rather be passing kidney stones anywhere else but where they were! I don't have any magic answers but this set up doesn't strike me as a winning forward line.

A move of Grundy forward can only come about with LRT moving back to the backline.

LRT is a premiership centre half back, leading the norm smith at half time. Why is he not being played there ?

Coz that was 7 years ago and he's been out injured for most of the last 2 years.

I Dont mind this either, LRT can go back to where he belongs in defence. Grundy is great in the one on one, body on body marking situations. Grundy, and perhaps a Walsh / Spangher as well as Reid and TDL could make for something resembling a forward line. White I am afraid is not a part of the future ( or the present). Only a change of club could ressurect his career i feel, sadly. He needs a wake up call.

He certainly is a good mark.
Would provide another big body target down there. Something we are lacking in ATM.

I don't think he followed his man forward. He set up as a forward. He wasn't there for long.

The Swans had too tall a team on Saturday, especially in defence, given who the Crows' forward options were. And that was even before the rain started. The loss of Smith didn't help.

Saw Grundy forward for a brief second....it was like the coaching staff had no idea, so they decided to log into RWO.

One of the assistants said there's a thread on the main board that says Grundy - Forward...so they made the move...while the change was being made they opened the thread and said - WAIT, no, it's a bad idea!

No reason why Reg can't play a Brian Lake (when he was good of course) type role for us. He could certainly pinch hit up forward and with his hands and good body work he would be pretty dangerous.

Didn't he get moved into defence because he was not cutting it as a forward?

yes he did indeed & I don't see the need to stuff things up by playing Heath in attack. Leave him alone!!!
