I've said it before, he knows what to do when he gets the ball, but doesn't know how to get the ball.
He offered us very little last night.

    Reg is becoming a liability.
Apart from the usual throwing things when Jesse is playing, I was sick of him doing little toe-pokes (pretty much emphasises your comment about how to get the ball) - when he wasn't winning the ball he'd stand there and on at least two occasions he stuck his foot out to kick it and they led to Hawks goals. Okay that sounded better in my head.

Reg's always been a concern for me, I think because of no LRT, Johnson around him his weaknesses are coming to the forefront instead of being hidden away.

They were all over us at every occasion, right down to Buddy's chase at the end.
Also, the Hawks fired at goal under angels and circumstances that would usually result in 25 - 50% returns and got nearly 100% return.

We were outplayed, but didn't play that badly.
To me, the scoreline at the end of the game didn't reflect the game play, should have been a bigger margin to the Hawks.
    Agree.
And the angels were definitely on the Hawks side.

IT took us 2 qtrs to get into the game, by then it was pretty much over.
When we got space, or managed to avoid tacklers, we played some good footy.
But, like the 3rd term against the Cats, we couldn't handle the intense pressure that they put on us.
It was incredible, and when they forced the turn over, they had too many players free.

    Too many unforced errors.
A very similar game to the Hawks Sf in 2011

Then the great excitement at trying to talk up Goodseys missed toe poke at the ball, which collected Gibson in the shin....as a reportable offence. Also pathetic.

    Just unlistenable.
Ernie you just summed up the exact 3 main things that did my head in. Spot on!

Poor effort against a hungrier, more committed, better prepared team.

Wouldn't blame the forwards too much, our midfield (bar Goodesy) was well done on their usual efforts.

Said last year that one of things that made us stand out was our ability to match against three (and if necessary) even four tall forwards - Sat night showed that was indeed the case. Not many teams do boast three quality tall defenders though - we'll need to muddle thru until LRT is back on deck and hope we don't get mauled by the monsters like we were on Saturday. Is Walsh a tall defensive option? If so, perhaps worth a chance - let's find out at least! All credit to Rampe tho who never gave up.

Clearly some fringe players that need to lift their rating, or hope the reserves don't put too much pressure on them.

We don't have the depth we thought we had. If we had AJ, LRT, Shaw and Mumford and dropped Rampe or Armstrong, White and Lamb we would have gone close to winning. Jesse didn't cut it and too many mistakes from defenders.

    Outplayed by a sharp outfit.

A couple of players who have got a bit of kudos that I saw as genuine weaknesses.

Armstrong; he had 11 possessions. 7 kicks 4 handpasses. He was chasing tail all night. Parker; had 19 stats and 10 tackles. looks good on the surface but seemed to stroll around miles from anyone and didn't bother chasing. May have been close in the clinches at times but boy he created nothing. And keep him away from centre bounces. Has no idea.

Centre clearances; when will our club get on top of the glaring deficiency. Again we were slaughtered. Our rucks jumped too early, our smalls stood flat footed and there was no pressure on their mids. They just took it away with consummate ease and it put so much immediate pressure on the backs. "They" say we have great midfield depth; not when it comes to centre clearances we don't.

So you're saying Jude is out of form?

Hawthorn turned up to play finals footy, we didn't. No biggy, it's only may.

People are being tough on white. He wouldnt be used to the senior midfield or forward line set ups. He's a fringe player, so please judge accordingly.

This is a good lloss to have. Takes the attention away from us for a while. Also means Longmire can stop selecting his hand final favorites, and begin selecting players on form.

In the cold light of day, that performance by the Bloods was... just as anemic as it was last night. I trust this valuable learning experience isn't lost on the coaches because much of the team looked ill-prepared, hesitant and out of their depth. No need to single out players for a shellacking when there's enough blame for almost everyone.

What struck me most was how the Swans missed so many targets, you'd swear the match ball was weighted differently or something. On the positives, McGlynn was good and while Goodes' disposal was dodgy at times, his knees were not. Haven't seen him move that freely all year! High marks for Pyke's contested marking, brilliant work.

Must win against a top four contender soon or our side might actually start believing they really are pretenders not defenders of the flag.

No need to panic. In round 7, 2012 we were beaten by the Tigers at the G by almost 30 points and there were many similar harsh opinion in this forum then. Our expectation has been raised after last September but we have to stay positive.

I'm with you, Stell. Hated the fact that it was against us, but couldnt help but admire a team at the top of their game. Roughead and Hodge put on a class and they had a lot of support. I kept thinking that this is such a great team and people question OUR salary cap?!? Also, they have so many top 10 picks compared to us - but these were whinging excuses i was putting up to console myself. What an awesome team to watch last night.
