On the opposition. Why does McKay persist with these around the body kicks when kicking for goal. That tactic probably cost Carlton the game.

Why don’t forwards run in and kick for goal like Carey, Dunstal or Lockett. Run in straight, use drop punt and kick through the ball. It seemed to work well for those guys.

Don't you reckon more goals are scored from tight angles these days? But i also reckon more goals are missed from easier angles.

Must admit I have a soft spot for Eddie Betts and agree the goal of the year award could be named after him.

I was clapping as loud as blues supporter on the weekend after the one hander. Special to see it live, and better on replay!

Always loved Eddie Betts.....his feats over his career have constantly astonished me and he is just a lovely human.....and in his 'Indigenous Round' interview he said Adam Goodes was his footy hero. That just tops it off. I would be happy with the Goal of the Year medal being called the Eddie Betts Medal.

He had no right to kick that goal all in one fluid motion, if you do the trigonometry it’s just not going fly, however he’s done it so many times you just have to tip yr Swans cap to him he’s that astonishing.

A lot of players seem more confident in shooting for goal with those foot across the ball kicks. We certainly see much more accuracy at shooting for goals from near the boundary with those style of kicks. Personally, I prefer players to run straight at it and kick a drop point when shooting from straight in front or a small angle. Having said that, its all about confidence in goal kicking so players should opt for their most comfortable option.

Amen - showing my age but set shot goal kicking has gone backwards. Imagine McKay if he could kick straight - wow.

I was sitting in the Brewongle Stand, and also applauded this effort from Eddie Betts. He’s a joy to watch, and his sheer love of playing footy is obvious to all. Part of the joy, really.

Which is sort of interesting. If I can see that it's a mark, I pretty well never consciously hear the whistle, but if a whistle is blown when there isn't a mark, the whistling immediately enters my consciousness.

I’ve always found the more annoying to be the whistle that is blown for a free kick when someone is already playing on. It is unnecessary and causes problems (as most players stop when they hear the sound, except the person with the ball).
