Depending on how our VFL side goes this weekend, Malceski could step in to take on the game day duties for the remainder of the AFL season. That may not be possible if the VFL side makes it through to the next round of the finals.
We coped with one fewer coaching staff last season, so I suppose there is some scope to spread activities around. For instance, I don't think Goodwin has line duty responsibilities on game day so he might be able to take up some slack. I imagine Kirk's current game day role is pretty important. He might be harder to replace in that role than McVeigh in his.Comment

Was a collective decision between McVeigh, Cox and a few of the other senior staff member. There was an article about it somewhere I read this morning - McVeigh basically said he felt uncomfortable potentially waiting 6 or 7 weeks to get started with the Bombers.

Cal Twomey recently reported on Footy Classified that Armatey's signature between us and Carlton is tightening. We haven't moved from our 5 year offer on the table v Carlton's bigger $$$$ 5 year offer. Armatey had originally said he wanted to remain a Swan.Comment

While we marvel at our depth right now it evaporates if we lose some of the 5. I suspect we will be looking for a couple of ready made defenders.Comment

Should it eventuate that we do lose some of them, it will be fascinating to see our approach. I expect we will be demanding players back, where it makes sense. The 27 and 28 drafts are going to be awfully compromised by Tassie coming in (Not having a go at Tassie in saying that - just stating the simple fact), and I still think we are between buckleys and stuff all chance of things being settled for potential trades to happen this year (while others might disagree - I just don't think players under a cloud of a significant criminal investigation are going to be tradeable in any form).
I wonder if Hawthorn has another Jai Serong or two they'd like to trade us for steak knives

Since you mentioned Serong, I'm wondering if Chad Warner decides that he wants to go back to Perth, would some sort of Caleb Serong trade for Warner be a possibility?

And on brothers, if the stories about Blakey wanting to be traded to Gold Coast are correct, would they be interested in trading Mac Andrew? Which I'd quite like to see. While he mainly plays in defence, he can also play forward and is a very good relief ruck. And if they do want Blakey, they'll probably have to give up a decent player, since they don't really have any current draft picks and I'm not sure if we want future picks.
They actually have a number of prospects, though some of them they almost certainly wouldn't want to trade. My first preference would be Walter, but with King apparently wanting to go to Melbourne, I'd say that Walter would be off limits. Likewise Rowell, who's too important to their engine room. Ethan Read could be a possibility? Hasn't really hit his straps yet, but has the potential to be a very good athletic ruck, who can be a dangerous forward. While of their younger midfielders, Lombard and Humphrey could become genuine stars.
Of course, all those scenarios depend on some sort of progress with the police investigation.

With so much uncertainty around it is really hard to guesstimate what might happen.
However, Jordon is not off contract I believe, has one for next year too I understand. Lloyd is also sticking around - he triggered an extension in his contract a few weeks back and will make the big 300 early in the season!
I think Amartey is gone - I just don't think we will be willing to match what silly Melbourne clubs are offering, and honestly don't think we should.
Rampe I suspect will depend a bit on what happens over the rest of the season. I'd love to see him get one more year to be able to reach 300 too, but if we lifted a certain Cup, there would be no better way to ice his career either.
I'd be amazed if Snell doesn't get another contract offer - he looks just about ready and may force his way in for Rd 1 2027.
Hamling has been great down back, and would be good depth, but equally could see him call it quits, especially if we did go all the way.
Hetherton/Chamberlain I'm not sure. I'd be surprised if we didn't keep them around at least for another year - after all they were taken as Cat B rookies weren't they, so always long term eyes for both of them.
We've got one confirmed departure with Adams already retiring. We will need at least 2 more changes before the draft - assuming we don't have resolution on the "4" from the 5 (I assume we won't seek to trade Bice unless he wants to go), there are some hard calls to potentially be made.
