Midfield a shambles!!!! Give me a break. Did you watch the last quarter yesterday? By the way the last time I looked we have won 15 games this year, and it maybe 18 by the end of the Home and Away

Midfield was in shambles.
Not sure what he is doing with Sheldrick.

We havent beaten a top 4 side of note, we are the easiest Top 8 side to transition against by far.
There is work to do and beating @@@@ teams doesnt make me anymore comfortable

Winning 15 games may seem spoilt but we have been absolutely embarrassed in GFs, im sorry if im not ready to watch us get smashed from the Midfield again.

From what I hear Amartey is already out the door.

Id take Mclean as a permanent fwd on his contract over Amartey on what he is asking for or being offered

Reasonable chance that Rampe retires at the end of the year, which probably leaves Cunningham and Hamling feeling a bit nervous. Though I wouldn't mind trading out a player or two for whatever picks we could get for them: Melican, Ladhams, maybe Amartey.

I'm comfortable with it, as I'm sure the conversation's been had with him about the risks of being pushed out, and we get the upside of his elite training and preparation and leadership. Apparently, when young blokes come into the club and need to learn about how to prepare themselves for AFL footy, the club basically says, let me introduce you to Lloyd and Harry.

Dane Rampe (285 games) & Jake Lloyd (292 games) have both been magnficent servants as they close in on 300, which they'll need to play on next year to achieve.

Would be great to see happen. Understandably, sentiments come second as it will depend on the players themselves, how the club sees our list and their rating of upcoming draft with our hand. Winning flag will also have an influence.

Hope they both receive great send offs either way.

I reckon Lloyd will get another year - if not with us, he would be a perfect fit for another club that is rebuilding. I know he has some very loud critics in some parts of our fan base, but I reckon he has had another really solid season and still has a bit to give. An ultimate professional that has truly eeked out every bit of performance he could.

I don't think Rampe will get there now given he has missed a few this year, and I tend to agree with Uninformed that it appears pretty clear he is finished sadly. He deserved to reach 300 - but footy is not a sentimental game.

All I will say is I hope the rest of the boys can help them get the send off they deserve with a medallion around their necks - would be wonderful for them to be part of a Swans Premiership after all the heartbreak they've been part of over the past decade and a bit. They've been amazing picks for a pair of rookies.

Players like them however is why I'd love a bit of nostalgia returned to the game with the effective return of the veterans list. Now I know some clubs (cough @@@@* you Geelong) were quite clever at all but abusing the system, but I think there was a nice reason behind it existing - and I think its demise has significantly gone towards seeing more and more players that should be one club players pushed out towards the end over relatively few $. But we all know, unless it favours the VFL boys club or other protected species, only certain types of nostalgia/romanticism can be associated with footy.

Lloyd could play til he is 45 its just a matter of who he holds out, no issue being on the list but next year he should be cover for injuries

Ramps would be lucky to play 12 games with injuries, always asked to do too much for his size, that gets harder the older you get.

Unfortunately we have history with guys going that extra year and not being available

This'll be Dane's last year. Think that's pretty well known inside the club. I love him to bits and hope we get to send him off the right way.

Lloyd is more to be seen. I think there's a gap between his performances against the very elite sides and the rest, but he's still doing a lot right.

maybe Weteriung from Carlton. not getting a game at this stage, not sure if it is injury concerns.

He has been out with calf issues which is not a good sign for aging players. The Swans are in no position to get seriously involved in trades at the end of the season because we have used our first round picks for the next two years, and that is what would be required

Any readymade KPDs in the market/rumoured to come to the swans?

With Edward’s injured and potentially injury prone, McCartins concussion concerns, and Rampe and Hamling past it and likely retiring (or one year off) you’d say we desperately need a readymade backman

I don't think we are in any desperate need for a midfieler, but doubtless there will be a few coming onto our list in the next few years. We have a sold midfield group, with Heeney tholdest, so you would expect this group has a several more years to go, if e can keep Warner. Our midfield is good enough where we can spare Mills to play in defense.

I can't see Datoli as a midfielder. Small forward definitely is the position for him. As a forward, he has many Heeney-like qualities, in that he can kick well on both side, for all distances and angles. Last game he was inside 50 in the 4th qtrr and could have gone for goal, but in a split second spotted Cleary in a better position around 40 and hit him spot on with a perfect kick. It was really impressive. I'd be shocked if he doesn't come in for Rosas.

BTW, Cleary missed that set shot, but miraculously kicked 2 beautiful set shot goals from more than 50 out in the same qtr. I've never seen Cleary kick that straight or that long in any AFL game. Probably just a fluke but hope springs eternal.

Why do you think that Nico? Cox strikes me as willing to give any youngster a go if shown consistent form in the ressies. Given Rosas’ poor recent games, I can’t see him retained this week and if Dattolli doesn’t get picked it will be very strange indeed.

In: Dattoli, Melican/Hamling, Gus and maybe Wicks.
Out: Edwards, Rowy, Rosas, and Lloyd/ Heeney managed.

Ludwig is an avid viewer of the VLF and he is adamant that Dettoli has been very good for weeks and can't work out why he hasn't replaced Rosas.
