Yes, let’s develop our young players- that’s the best way going forward. Of course if an experienced player becomes available and wants to join us, by all means but not at the expense of preventing a promising young talent from getting a spot. It has worked to some extent with Hamling but we have to build for the future. The Lions are the model to follow!

interesting that patrick snell voted best vfl plaer of the year and with bowman's injury concerns shoyld get a game next year perhaps on half back line. they both should have been given an opportunity in 2026 just to see how thet would go in the big league.Comment

With Millsey out and Ramps future uncertain- he will be managed even if he can play one more year, I’m sure three youngsters will be given opportunities in the backline. We definitely need at least one tall but preferably two, so I’m thinking Snell and Riak, though we may pick up a trade if a good defender becomes available.

A lot will be answered in the coming weeks. As you say a lot will depend on whether Rampe goes around again and like for like you would think Snell would the replacement. This will be his fourth season so he needs to stand up now.

The other key decisions are the future of Cunningham and Hamling. Both are well regarded within, and despite some negative comments on Hamling on this site, his form in the later part of the season was very good.
The 3 tall’s on the backline, McCartin, Edwards and Blakey, in my opinion are the obvious starters with backup support from Melican, Hamling etc, but realistically Andrew is still at least a year away from being a regular starter.
One last point, statistically the Swans defence was rated in the top three over the season, and just as importantly stood up when it counted in both finals.Comment

I think our issue is when Blakey and Rampe have been regarded as a tall defenders.

Neither are, we are much better with Tom, Will and Lewis/Hamling with Wicks as the small and others attacking
Blakey is Jordan Dawson V2, a waste down backComment

Just wondering when the de-listing will start? Adams and Amartey and maybe Rampe gone. Will players like Hamling, Ladhams and Melican hold their positions?Comment
-
Melican has to, Ladhams will if there is no other interest.
Band 3 for Amartey, be in the 40s by the time we get itComment
-
Melican maybe classed as a tall defender but he certainly doesn't play like oneComment

Except his opponent took marks on him and missed the shots thats a big difference (the reason he's the 3rd choice in my opinion struggles to defend one on one when isolated)Comment

have I got that right as our current hand ?Draft Pick 35 Draft Pick 36 (Amartey Compo) Draft Pick 48 Draft Pick 70 "be tough, only when it gets tough"

What’s everyone’s thoughts on little Mal ?
2 more years and a seriously creative player with ball in hand - maybe suited more on the smaller SCG as less metres to push through
would we look to trade and or invest in another pre season and season to find that extra run that is no doubt required in high pressure defence particularly
