It's been announced that Riley Bice has been exonerated. Interestingly there was no mention of this on AFL360 or First Crack apart from a note at the bottom of the screen of 360. I also heard today that Tom Morris has pulled his head on the issue. May I suggest that the media may have some legal issues to deal with when all is said and done, and not just the journos who stacked on layer on top of layer on top of layer.

What do you mean by Tom Morris has pulled his head on the issue?

The term "pull your head in" refers to someone who has been told to cool it. He was all over it on the Monday morning but has apparently gone to ground on the issue.

On Gary and Tim on SEN this morning Gary Lyon said...well it's been proved there were drugs in the room......hasn't it? Subject was changed quickly.

Yes I suspect that you are right re Morris being told to cool it.. I think it the whole media is too saturated with it and maybe behind the scenes there have been comments made about unfair or incorrect reporting... with possible legal consequences.

The Swans intimated this last week by saying their legal people were investigating certain issues. Sorry about the missing "in". IIRC Morris was sent to purgatory for some time regarding some unsavoury comments he made about a Foxtel staffer.

                  Not a problem

Anyway, I love how all the journos get all high and mighty, yet they are as fallible as the next person. Yes you are right about Morris... Mitch Cleary hasn't painted himself in glory either - read something about him yesterday. For that matter so has Gary Lyon previously etc etc etc .we can go on and on and on. We all make mistakes. I certainly do. That is the point that I am trying to make. I mean look at corporate Australia.. they do it all the time.

But we all hope that a grave mistakes was not made by the 5 ... I guess some mistakes have more repercussions than others

It seems like the investigation is going to narrow down to a couple very soon. It is also a race between the investigations and the legal teams.
the swans statement on getting legal advice on false information being floated really dented the whole media proceedings. Necessary !

The Age reporting Blakey wants to be traded... Probably not too concerned with the investigation either

Nick Blakey needs to grow up and stop sulking about being deservedly put in the naughty corner. He was there, he OWES everyone at the club and every supporter for bringing the club into disrepute. There should be no easy way trade out out for any of these guys. They all owe us.
Patterns emerge, but do they mean anything? No.

Nick Blakey has put himself in this situation - not the club.

I agree that he owes the club... it is a shame it is coming to this....

Agree but he is 25, as if he has the feeling of owing anything

He will go elsewhere, be absolutely loved and probably get a payrise

And the Swans "will get shafted for doing the right thing"

                              Bravo Sydney

Completely agree. It appears at this time he was more involved than Bice in the incident, and (this applies to all - not just him) and he put himself in this situation. If he is going to throw his toys out of the pram, then I'm not sure that's a great reflection on him. But of course - who knows what level of what is in that latest article is true, false or otherwise. But there does seem to have been some efforts from his camp I suspect behind the scenes to paint him as an 'innocent victim' in all of this. Only time will tell the truth to that.

Before all of this, I wasn't actually against us thinking about what we could get at the trade table for him (and it sounds like we thought about cashing in last year when he looked to potentially go to Gold Coast). He is an outstanding player at his best, but for a bloke getting towards 200 games, he still does a whole lot of brain dead stuff - a lot of 'cutesy' football this year, some very high risk (yes high reward - but there is risk tolerances too). That is tempered by the long contract and pretty generous terms he is on that might limit the market and what we get back - but I can see why the allure could be there. It could be a case that a fresh start for all is the best outcome, if (and of course that's an important if) you believe the narrative being peddled in the media at this point.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."
