I'm sure that the AFL will be pleased at how the extra couple of places turned out, because it meant that they got at least one more week of Carlton and Collingwood, but I'm not entirely convinced. Personally I doubt if a side will ever win a premiership from the wildcard position, when all their more credentialed opponents are resting up. So, it's possible that the AFL have nominally expanded the finals to ten teams, but in reality, they've reduced it to six teams. Plus I would have enjoyed it, if the spirited Carlton comeback, had ended with them still missing the finals.
But hey, both games should be an enjoyable watch.
