One hundred percent.Really disappointing that a guy (Blakey) goes out all night, drinking and whatever, 2 weeks out from finals.
Then because he was caught and subsequently banned, he then dumps on the club who have supported and nurtured him since he was a little boy.
Runaway,runaway.....Shows really poor character. I say trade him this year before compromised draft years.
Though it needs to be either 2 high first rounders, or a top 10 first rounder and a quality player..No first rounders from the compromised drafts (2027/28) please.
They'll be basically 2nd rounders.👍 1Comment

This ain’t happening.
Think about what it’d take from clubs named so far (how legitimate their interest is versus his manager pumping it up is another story).
Geelong - wanna give up Holmes or O’Sullivan? Nope. And nor should they, so we can forget that.
The Saints - hey, how’s Nasiah doing? Maybe Wilkie and pick 8. Didn’t think so either.
The Bombers - lolz. And don’t get me started on pick 1. There’s only one generational player in this years draft and he’s taken.
Who else? Norf … I honestly can’t name a player I’d swap. Wardlaw is awesome but injury and concussion prone. And the new coach ain’t giving up the young guns he inherited anyway.
Saw someone float Melb with picks 6&10. Again, we want players.
Nick just better reconcile himself with coming back to the Swans.Comment

Caught up with Glenelg key defender Harry Franz.
Had a chat with him about his season, leadership, and what he's been working on heading into the draft. Really interesting player with plenty of upside. COuld be great key position value late draft.

I hope we hold firm with Blakey and this all blows over. He is irreplaceable and important piece to our flag aspirations. Rival clubs are getting stronger with who they have or likely to trade in.
We don't appear to be in a position to do similar as the pending police findings has tied our hands in managing our list for the short term. The best outcome is for the Pullman 4 to be all cleared and ALL playing next year.
Losing Blakey even for 3 x 1st rounders won't cut it, as it won't help our flag chances next year which could be our last best chance if Warner also decides to leave as FA.
Blakey plays another 12 months and he may hopefully settle back ok in that time. If not, we still be in a good bargaining position. The only down side as that it will be a compromised Tassie draft.
The reports of Geelong being in front of the queue makes me spew up!

Has to be a ridiculous offer not a fire sale
If Blakey goes, it will pivot straight to 12 months of Warner talk about leavingComment

Listening to Chris Keane on Trade Radio today . . . I'd say if someone stumps up with the most magnificent offer imaginable, maybe, but otherwise, no.
He said:
- they'd spoken to his manager in recent days, but not Nick directly
- they were surprised by him spruiking himself so widely and openly
- the expectation is he'll be back at the club next year, describing it as the 'most likely scenario'
- doing any sort of deal would be 'significantly challenging'.
My read: they know he's pissed, but they're not exactly pleased with Nick either and would only entertain a godfather offer.

Re Blakey I hope he turns around and stays. But if he is to go... Its not going to be Geelong - they have just signed Marshall with pick 14. They will not be able to satisfy the Swans. I would suggest that Sydney would need at least one top 5 pick, another top 10 pick and a first rounder at the very minimum.
Gold Coast has met with Blakey, Essendon, St Kilda and NM. Apparently NM has given him a major $$$ offer. Again NM does not have enough draft capital to satisfy Sydney. Unless we get a really good player such as LDU as part of the deal.
I love the Lizard but he needs to understand what has actually occurred and how his own conduct has put himself int he situation that he is in.Comment

It's nothing like what he'd earn if he stays. He'd earn a fair bit less with us.
Which only emphasises the point - you want him, you pay. And Norf can't pay as they don't have what we want, which is elite players.Last edited by imuninformedtwo; Yesterday, 03:26 PM.Comment

UUaswan... North is the club that had put up with Taryn Thomas... no wonder they would entertain and put up $$$$$$. Not that I think Nick is anywhere near Taryn's predicament.
North are so desperate, no one really wants to go there.. certainly Isaac didn't....that they would do anything to attract a player of Nick's calibre. Yes we should be absolutely playing hardball. If Charlie C was 3 first rounders plus Will Hayward, then Nick B is worth that and then more given he is 2 years younger and more durable then Charlie was at the same age.
Anyway, given Dylan's limited talent compared to the no 5 pick that he was (a total bust as we all know), pick 21 a few years later was gold.Comment
