What are the odds of our boys meeting Norf in the first game of the season next year?

Post Nick we just have to move on. Back our club in as well as our playing staff. They have shown they can deliver, I have faith in them.

What I want to know is who we will go for with pick 6?

Does Chris Keane split this into two picks? I think not - but it is an option to consider- there is also live trading on the night which may or may not mean we go with pick 6.

I think whoever we select may give us an insight into what will happen with the Chad. If, there is a midfielder available, at what will effectively be Pick 8 (or 9 if we bid on Matthews), as well as a KPD, if CK goes with a midfielder, then I'd say there is a fair chance he might be thinking post Chad.

For what its worth - and I am going off a few draft predictors, by the time our selection rolls around, for the nonclub aligned picks, we will be in for one of Van Hattum (RUCK), Caylen Murray MID/HB) , Gus Teixera (MID), Mitch Harris (KPD), Steed (MID). Yes I know Caylen Murray is a Bris academy but it is unlikely that Bris will have the picks and go into deficit. Ethan Matthews will be matched by GWS, so I have excluded him here.

Therefore, Van Hattum is probably a no go (as we have Green), so it will probably come down to Murray/Teixera or Harris.

What does everyone think? Do you think that CK will go for best available? Or needs? Or to cover potentially what may play out with the remainder of the guys that have been affected?

I know he was injured but there isnt much talk of King, wasnt he the best of the academy at one stage ?

Does he get a game if fit ?

Riak in a similar boat with injuries

Im assuming Snell gets a game if fit

            Harry Kyle
            a few years playingAussie Rules
            Mianly a rugby footballer prior
            pick 14 in the draft
turned 19 in July this year
played approx 12 games of AFL in year one in a serious AFL top4 team

His upside is too hard for any of us to guauge.........and was touted as a HBF come Mid sooner rather than later,

In comparison.......Jai Serong from Victoria Gippsland Aussie Rules heart land (Aussie Rules his whole life) plays 10 games for the Hawks in 4 seasons but at 23yrs of age goes onto to play 24 games for us in 2026

Kyle is already fast tracked in his trajectory of development...........beyond my expectation.

ps dont be surprised to see Kyle get some more game time on the wing ala Issac Smith type of impact and Serong covering Blakey's role. Obviously Jai has made a strong impression on the coach and playing group in 2026.

Serong said when joining the Swans:

"The role I see myself playing at the Swans is as a defender that can play tall, small, third and rotate between those different roles. I played a lot of different roles at Box Hill, but I think a real strength of mine is my versatility to be able to play tall, small, medium and that was the sell from the Swans," he said.

Kyle was always rated higher than Carmichael and was an obvious pick when GWS made a bid at pick 14 last year, and his performance this year justified the selection. That is not to say Carmichael won’t make the grade, but I am confident I am confident Kyle certainly will

                OK so our 2026 draft hand is now Sydney: 6, 38, 39, 47, 54, 76, 95

our picks 38, 39, 47 have the same draft value index as pick 13...............approx 1,200 value index

I know that this only is a small part of making a deal happen....BUT

could we be looking to trading these (fairly close together) 3 picks for a pick 18 or 19 or 20 ? ie grab one first round pick at a value index 20% less in the 18-20 pick range...... it is significantly less than our combined picks of 38,99,47 which is approx 1,200 value index but could be currency for an important trade ????

Then use a pick 18 or 19 or 20 for a trade like a Nick Murray (Adelaide want a top20 pick) or keep for the draft if we know what we want with picks 6 and 54 and maybe 76 for a local player?

                Carlton has pick 18
                Freeo has pick 19
                Brisbane has pick 20
                Essendon has pick 21
                Richmond has pick 22

I wonder what their needs are re Academy players etc?

In particular ..........Richmond only have picks 2, 22, 44............they might be keen on spreading their picks ??

Or have we built cover for McGroder who could be a top25 @@@@@ our a late 40s pick ?

                9 clubs supposedly interviewed Mason??

Not true at all, Carmichael was the Allies player of the Carnival U18 Carnival and named in the All australian team that year, All draft watchers had above Kyke in their rankings - GWS forced our hand and they chose Kyle i am not saying he won't be a good player and he has shown he may become a good player he showed a bit, wether that translates to becoming a really good player we can only hope - i hope Carmichael becomes home sick lol

We are in the window for next year. We will have the fodder to win it all.
I think we need a KPD so I would go with Mitch Harris with pick 6 unless we are getting a generational inside player with pick 6z in our team he can play the third tall and can intercept. So good enough I think

Had a chance to watch the last couple Sydney games of the VFL on the weekend

Bowman and Snell both look like the most likely to achieve a debut in 2027.

Snell plays strong on the ground and in the air

Bowman really takes the game on at hyper speed off HBF

no doubt a few mistakes in Bowman’s game but that is his role to play that Blakey like attack off HBF via run and carry.

Not sure if we give Snell and opportunity early ahead of Hamling and or Melican to help out the KPD roles…….but there is no reason why Patrick won’t be applying serious pressure after the first 6 to 8 rounds

Saw a few of the VFL games live last season and thought Snell was a lock for a senior game before he was injured. Bowman and Andrew also impressed. Would be happy to use one of our lower daft picks on Mellis, too. We also have Phillipou developing nicely and King to come back into that team. Looking forward to seeing his development as well next season.

Regarding Carmichael, homesickness and not getting much opportunity might see us benefit from the “want to go home” phenomenon for once.

Hammling is definitely back up and maybe requires early on especially if Edwards has any setbacks, Melican should not play seniors again unless absolutely necessary he's not cut out for it,
