Carlton's Amartey offer reportedly slighter lower than originally floated around, now being $4.5m over 5 years. It should still be enough to trigger a band one compensation. Not holding my breath on this, as the AFL tend to use pick compensations as an equalisation measure at times.

When seeing Armatey has only played 76 games over 8 seasons, Carlton are taking a big risk with their offer (so were we to a lesser extent) due to his durability issues. He does have talent aa we've seen.

They see him as a Curnow replacement to play out of the goal square to enable Harry McKay playing higher up.

Sad to see him go, but umderstanable aa others have pointed out. We had no real need to try and match their offer.

McLean will now feel more secure and every chance for him prove himself next year for a contract extension.

Just occurred to me, with the very slight pay cut Charlie took in return for an extra year, he and Joel will be earning basically the same. I say this with no malice to Joel, but I know who's got the best value for money right now.

Ive been a fan but for some reason he never played above 70% Game time all year, he is slow and not on the ground long enough to accumulate has he already hit his ceiling ?

SCG should suit him as well. Been in the system long enough to be able to play more ToG

I think our tall defence should be fine. I fully expect our backline to comprise McCartin, Edwards and Snell next year. Riak Andrew is also an exiting prospect. I would trade Melican and keep either Hamling or Rampe for backup next year Also remember that Jai Serong can play a KPP either forward or back.

I'm not worried abourt our forward line wither with Logan coming of age this year. Even with the loss of Amartey, we still have Green, who I woul dexpect to play some tall forward ruck next year, as well as Heatherton, who looks promissing and might alos be able to ruck, as well as Max king returning from injury. So plenty of tall talent up front. Paps, Datoli and a defensive forward to fill out the forward loine, with plenty of mids wandering forwars.

I do agree that something has to click for Sheldrick where he can make a greater impact on the game. He can will the ball and we have seen him kick well off both sides, so we have something work with there. Cleary showed some good signs late in the season.

I alos thin Bowman and Phiipou will make it as AFL players.

If we can retrain our suspended players without dmage to the grou as a unit, I can see quite a strong squad going in the 2027.

For me Bowman's body has let him down so far we haven't seen much from him other than a few highlights and a positional change. Phlipou hard to say he goes in and out of games and struggles with the team and defensive side of the game at this point i couldn't tell you if they will make it.

Defence needs 3 tall proper defenders like last week.

If Blakey is in the team he should be on the wing and venture thru defence like Gulden if he needs to bring it out.

Tom, Edwards and Melican for now, hopefully one of the others mentioned comes on.

3 talls on the weekend held the 3 best tall trio to 2 gls on the weekend, Melican included.

According to Callum Twomey on FC tonight, Geelong are now also showing interest in Blakey after missing out on Butters (which the panel, including Eddie McGuire, all groaned in disbelief).

However. Twomey said he will most likely stay due to the legal complexities surrounding the situation.

More importsntly, he stated the 5 banned players are scheduled to front up with the playing group this week.

This includes Liz. He has 5 years to go. The club holds all the aces. I cannot see how Geelong can satisfy Sydney. In any event, this will not happen. I think that Nick will need to assimilate back into the club.

With Mills likely to miss most of next season (Gerard Healy thinks he may return by August), i think this increases Rampe's chances of going round again as cover for him.

I think Mills will still retain the captaincy, with Rowbottom who i think will be named as VC, to lead the side in Mills' absence.

Errol will get his shot soon enough.

And the compensation pick for Amartey? Is that likely to be end of first round?
