    I’d be happy with

    A) Pick 6

    B) Paul Curtis - I’d be very keen on. The kid can play and score plus just turned 23yrs old this year. Won’t break the bank $ contract. Provides some real scoreboard pressure and is equally good at taking big marks (185cm tall) as well as scooping off the ground / Papley quick minimum.

Curtis is almost 100 AFL games and 140 goals playing for a team that massively struggled….except for last season and in his first few years as an AFL player. If he was at the Swans you could argue he would have been closer to two goals a game ie his first four seasons of 12, 17, 30 and 38 goals (2026 he scored the 38 goals from 20 games).

    C) plus Nick Murray via a future first rounder from Norths we can give to Adelaide plus probably we would need to give Adelaide one of our pick 30s (or a SA born player in return like Roberts?)……. I believe Blakey and Murray are with the same management …..for me Murray is exactly what we need for 2027 season ie athletic KPD at 195cm tall.

This combo of pick6, a small forward and a serious KPD) gives us some real draft power, a very attacking small medium forward ie Curtis can truly score plus Nick Murray and that is a serious trade haul.

i can’t see North letting Curtis go but they maybe more open to passing on the Murray opportunity for us to negotiate if Murray would consider Sydney.

For me if land pick 6 plus a future first rounder from North and NM back out of a trade for Murray and he comes to Sydney well that is a fairly strong result. Curtis on top would be a seriously good result.

Paul Curtis is a weapon small forward. Paps turned 30yrs old this season and will be 32yrs old in season 2028 which is the last year of his contract. Replacing Paps with an emerging small forward who kicked 38 goals last year last year is pretty important.

“There’s been some big progress in the Nick Blakey deal with North Melbourne now set to offer pick 6 plus their 2028 first-round pick, and potentially a 2027 second-rounder, to Sydney.

However Seven’s Tom Morris also notes the offer will make it hard to get the Nick Murray deal done with the Crows reportedly seeking a 2026 pick in return for the key defender.”

The Swans themselves are eyeing a surprise move with interest in delisted Carlton defender Zac Williams, reports Seven’s Mitch Cleary.

The 32-year-old could add halfback cover if Blakey departs, along with the looming absences of Callum Mills (ACL injury) and Harry Cunningham (move to Adelaide).

Williams could be signed using the new dedicated category B rookie spot for First Nations players. Clubs cannot re-sign their own players using the new rule, designed to boost Indigenous participation.

OUT for 2027 is a bit of a concern re experienced players

You have to guess although Chris Keane originally said we will be quiet leading into the trade period …. We must be looking for some experienced players to replace players lost or unavailable

          Amartey

          Cunningham

          Adams

          Blakey?

          Rampe?

          Hamling?

          Mills season (injured)

if curtis leaves signing of rosas last year a waste, and I thought Jesse D was the next in line. Can fathom Williams surely others could replace, and then there is academy guys mcgroger, meaney ,medved and monahan at least 3 of which should be on supp. McGrogor will probably be drafted into someones main list hopefully ours

Still think we should look at Sam DeKoning , a key defender wsho Cats appear to have been shopping around. not sure what he would cost in terms of a trade, money should not be a worry.

I dont agree re Curtis and Rosas - They both could add significantly in good form. Curtis more so !

Rosas is on a baseline contract and we got him for 3 years .....giving up pick pick 62 in exchange for 51 and 69 and Rosas

Serong we got for pick 53 and had only played 10 AFL games prior but played very very well for us in 2026

Charlie for 3 first round picks ie value was more so 2026 and 2028 draft and not so much in 2027 (compromised draft) plus Will Hayward and separate deal Ollie.

Going or Gone = Amartey $800k pa offer and Blakely (most likely) going $1m pa contract, Adams $500k pa.......plus potentially Hamling $350k, Rammpe $400k pa and Cunnigham $400k pa - t

that gives us $3.5m for trading in a few players etc less any upgrades / Draft pick players

For me though unless we get beyond expectations I say keep Blakey like we did with Paps

re how successful the Serong trade has been i Jai playing 24 games for us in his first season at the Swans.......prior had only played 10 games for the Hawks

Does anyone have a similar view re Josh Goater - 190cm medium intercept defender......played 18 games but has had quite a few injuries in his 4 years or so at Norths after being drafted at pick 22.

Indicated immediately that he wants to join the Hawks who have offered a two year contract but deal not done as yet.

For me Sam Mitchell is making great strides in the Hawks identification of talent and wouldnt sign a nufty for two years

Now that the Blakey trade is heating up ........ should we consider enquiring re Goater as part of the deal especially with Mills missing more of 2027 and if Blakey moves on.

Goater plays a fairly similar role to Mills. Goater plays tall like Sicily ie a strong high mark.

Current Draft picks for Hawks may make it tricky if North dont except a late pick.

Plus North still want Murray. Adelaide rejected a future first rounder for Murray (who is contracted till end of 2027 and was their no1 KPD prior to his 12 weeks out for the knee operation this season).

                      Hawthorn: 29, 37, 71, 94

                      North Melbourne: 6, 47, 66, 74, 84

                      Sydney: 38, 39, 52, 54, 76, 95

As has been suggested, we should only accept a really strong, above expectations deal if we are to trade Blakey. We are holding the cards and draft picks are only of real value to us if we can use them to obtain a player (or 2) that we really want. Of course I’d be happy with Curtis as he is a very talented forward but I don’t think Norf has offered him as yet.He and Sheezel and it’s a deal! Ha ha……….

Ollie Murphy I followed a bit at Freo and saw him play against my boys the Sharks, interesting on both occasions I saw him he was in the Peel Reserves side not even the league side! not sure what that tells you if he can't crack it at WAFL level (but his height and weight he might be worth a rookie spot)

Latest update re North and Adelaide

“The Roos have put up their 2027 first-rounder plus pick 33 (what they would get for Zane Duursma) to get a deal done for Nick Murray at Adelaide. The Crows have been looking for a top-20 pick this year if they're to move on Murray.”

If this is picks and doesn't turn into players via another trade, im not keen.

Cant see how we get better letting Nic go

I don't like what I'm reading Re:Blakey deal....Pick 6 and 2028 first rounder...that's way unders. Must include a player, like Curtis, or no deal!
What is it about the Swans when trading, absolute jelly backs!
