A lot of people on this site were also saying the same thing about Logan McDonald. Armartey’s first half of the season was pretty good, and he did score goals against good teams unlike McLeanComment

Amartey can be very good but he needs to be more consistent and of course more reliable, as he seems injury prone. I hope he stays but obviously the club knows how much we can afford to pay him so it will boil down to his decision to stay or not.

No club will touch any player potentially subject to criminal charges with a barge pole until there is clarity in that respect.
They may seek to tap them up for a future trade period - sure. But they aren't going to be seeking to trade for someone that could then face an extended period out of the game, or indeed an expectation of their complete removal from the game at the AFL level.
There may be some indication prior to this year's trade period where the investigation is headed, but there is a fair chance there will not be.
And that's before the club has to make a decision on players' futures, once it does know what the outcome of said investigation is. And that isn't a simple question of a 5 minute conversation between key coaching staff - that will have to take into account input from multiple people across the club - given the high profile nature of what is happened, and the need for a clearly united position from the club going forward."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I would reckon that the Swans have already had talks about where to from here. At the moment they are all contracted. If it works out that there are no charges then I would be surprised if any of these players moved on.Comment

It'll all depend on what happens with the investigation Nico - I too suspect our preference if that none are moved on if not forced to be moved on (i.e. delisted/deregistered). But equally, there may be an argument that the club will want to make a really definitive statement out of this and choose to voluntarily move a couple of them on at the first opportunity, as a way to put their foot down.
But yes, assuming players are not charged, I suspect the club initially will see the club sanctions (plus any AFL sanctions that could arise too - don't rule that out, even if it is likely just to be a couple of more games) as a line in the sand and as the reset point - noting players reintegrated will still be starting from step 1 effectively in rebuilding trust with their fellow players and the wider club and fan base."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

The Optics vs The Reality
I think there are probably two camps already within the club. And it will depend on how damaging the media gets over the next few weeks. If the damage to the reputation is too much then the Optics camp may win and move on players. But if it can somehow be reasonable I think the Reality camp will prevail and they will try to reintegrate the core players.
It is mind boggling how the narrative in media is going in this particular case -
Misleading information
Lawyers giving statements in the media before any charges are laid
New information by the involved women in dribs and drabs that keeps everyone asking for more information.
AFL media expecting 2 match ban and then when the club decides that it is the entire year, they are asking pretty much for more blood
AFL media predicting and reporting on how everyone is feeling without knowing anything
Media already predicting departure of players to demise of club
and to top it all the lack of information from the most important people involved - Victoria Police makes it a very frustrating read everyday.
I think there isn't a hint of this but I suspect that the media doing its thing may mean that it can become a 'US' vs 'Them' mentality in the sense that the players may start thinking that the media and other teams are acting like vultures to break the club and the playing group. And if the case fizzles out it may actually make some of the group stronger.👍 3Comment

Good call, but can't imagine Tom Morris and co not reporting "alledged" disharmony within the club for years to comeThe Optics vs The Reality

By the way, speaking of list decisions, Charlie was confirmed in the All Australian team tonight. Good on our list managers and good on him. People at the club can’t speak highly enough of what a modest, dedicated guy he’s been. Two thumbs up.👍 2Comment
